CAN'T TRANSFER PHONEBOOK!!!
has ANYONE figured out how to transfer your contacts from your existing phone to the 8100??? I've accessed the filesystem to put in ringers, but i CANNOT find where in the filesystem the phonebook is stored!!! Of course, i went into verizon to have them do it, but since its "not released yet" they don't have the "software" to transfer my phonebook from my 7000 to my 8100. Also, the guy said that he guesses that it will be another SIX WEEKS (sorry to spread another rumor...) PLEASE let me know if anyone gets bitpim working (WITH PHONEBOOK, not just filesystem) or if someone figures out how to put in a phonebook using the filesystem.

Unfortunately-- I paid Verizon's back-up assistant to do it. It was pretty simple for 2.00 and I just transfered my phone book from my 8000 to my 8100 rather quickly.

what do you mean? are you talking about the Get It Now phobook backup and restore service? i've heard of it, but I (along with many others) cant access GIN (and vcast and pix msg..etc) with the 8100 yet, our theroy is that the services arent launched because the phone hasnt been officially released. so...now what - how do we get the contacts transfered!??

I've got a Moto T720, (actually I had 😎 ) and they were unable to transfer my data too. The system had support for it (so it said) but it failed to transfer. They said to come back next week and it should be good to go.

Depending on the system the stores use to transfer numbers.. If you use cellebrite just just update your software.! Worked for us.Now we can transfer over 300 different models. Including the 815, 8100, bla bla bla .... Hope this helps.. 😁

FIGURED IT OUT!! i found the filesystem location where the phonebook is stored. it is in the PIM folder, called pbentry.dat - so, i tried saving my pbentry.dat from my 7000 (with 400+ contacts in it) and overwriting my 8100's pbentry.dat (after backing up the original file of course) (then you must power cycle your phone). sounds like it should work right? doesnt work. the phonebook appears with random symbols, lots of blank spaces, and didnt seem too stable. naturally i put the original pbentry.dat file back and everything is fine. i was SOO CLOSE- BUT then i called the verizon store to see if now that they CARRIED the phone they might be able to transfer a phonebook. They don't have the "system" yet, but they refered me to the Novi st...
