I got the phone this morning and besides an issue with a call going from good volume to very low volume back to normal..........the phone is great.............The thing that has got me freaked is that.........and I do not know how I missed this but it is all digital..........does this cause problems for some people?...........I went from the 6100 to the 8100 and my old phone did on occasions use analog. Any help would be great.................Thanks 🙂

Did you try taking it off autovolume? Also did you try using a BT headset that has a volume control? Do any of those ideas others have suggested to me work for you?

Unfortunately, taking it off auto volume didn't work re: making the volume louder (and having it so that the volume doesn't roll up and down). And I don't have a bluetooth headset yet, but I was wondering from folks who do that if the headset has a volume control, would that be able to enhance the volume of the 8100 if master volume on the phone itself is already on high and earpiece is on high? Just some creative thinking but I don't know really until someone tries it and posts in. If you have any ideas/info I'd be willing to try. Someone mentioned the enhanced privacy and removing that so I'm hoping they'll post back and let me know what that is, where it is on the phone, and how to take it off. Hopefully, it's just something simple folk...

I'm not sure if it's a my imagination, but taking it off enhanced privacy seems to make it louder. It's was fine before, but it seemed to make better. I don't really miss analog at all, the only time it's a concern is when I travel out to the sticks and even then it's less and less of a concern.

What is enhanced privacy, and how would I take it off? It'd be great to figure out something that would work and be helpful to the few follks posting with the volume concern. Let me know what I'd need to do and thanks!

Also, is there a BT headset that has a volume control that can make it even louder than the master volume on the phone would go? Thanks-

I believe it's another layer of encryption, thus making the phone work a little harder. I've always turned it off.
The steps. Menu, scroll over to Tools, 5, 5, select Standard, then OK.

Wow, I'm learning alot through the expertise of others- thank you. I assume 5, 5, is the number under tools of the feature I want to select, so I'll go ahead and try that as well!

Thanks!

Yes, that's what I meant.
The informaiton I have about enhanced privacy is probably a little old, but it's supposed to encrypt your voice over the network even more than CDMA already does. The system your making your call on has to support that feature as well, it has to be able to decrypt the phone call. Whan I'm on the Verizon system it works fairly well, I seem to run into to issues when I'm on an extended network I have a few issues with call quality.

Analog is going South anyway in 2007...That is why services like OnStar that only used Analog when it first came out will no longer work in your vehicle unless you get a digital upgrade.
