Anyone else notice...

PlayboyPenguin

Anyone else notice that it seems half of the reviews and posts on all these message boards seem to come from people with an agenda. I notice some people that post reviews of phones that give them a zero because of one little flaw or something that is not even true. Who gives a phone a zero if it has any positive features at all? I also notice that the reverse is true. I also notice that judging from the wording, phrasing, and spelling of some of the reviews and posts that some people make multiple posts under different names and also go through and give negative reviews of every model of phone from certain makers. I think it is pretty clear that people from different companies try to poison the waters for other manufacturers. So take anythin...

I also just noticed that someone has been adding zero rating to the VX8100 reviews to drive the average down and the screenname/profiles are all created on the same day which also happens to be the day of the post.

I believe it may be the brand loyal moto fans out their sku'ing the rating. Personally, I think this sort of feedback is inexcusable. All forum's and user's should have the decency to rate phones based on their merits, and not the brand. I for one have used moto and lg's in the past and lg's appears to be built with better materials. Just my opinion. Thanks.

MOTO zombies are notorious for bashing other products on discussion boards. It is about the only way they can keep the moto name going. They post great reviews for piece of crapola motos and negative reviews for other brands in direct competition.

Actually it reminds me of the Nixon "Dirty Tricksters" when they used to attend democratic rallies and begin bad-mouthing the opposition. Of course, we all know what led to their demise and why "Deep Throat" became a household name!

It's too bad that honesty has been thrown out by these people - I would hope that each phone would speak for itself (figuratively not literally ) and that ultimately consumers will be able to see which phone stands on its own merits!

I don't see the LG people bad mouthing the e815. In fact alot of us own both. The bad mouthing seems to be a one way street only coming from the MOTO people who are backed into a corner and ravenously defending a dying product. Don't believe it is a dying product? Take a look at motorola's yearly and quarterly reports and forcasts.

LG people are bad as MOTO? As this is my first phone I haven't had time to develop any "loyalties" but I don't see how LG people are as bad if the e815 has a 4.0+ rating.
LG people may talk up their product, but they have the decency it seems to not maliciously try to sway purchases.
Just my opinion, though.

I don't even own a phone - nor am I (at this point) a Verizon customer. I hope to be in the next week and trying to decide (based on the merits of each phone) which phone to purchase. I don't understand how one phone (LG 8100) can receive a superior rating from many folks (who obviously took their time to give the pros and cons in a detailed message) and then others give it a -0- or low rating with a brush-off few lines. I am not knocking people for a lack of education but it's very easy to see the high-schoolers (with terms like "bro" and "piss-off", etc.) - when many others give a sincere (and in my opinion) educated response - only to be knocked down for that. As I have stated previously - everyone should be giving an objective as opp...

Most of those "high schoolers' are not actually high school kids...they are often Motorola employees using fake screennames and trying to play a part.

It is not the moto user...it is actual motorola employees doing the bashing...I hear it is condoned company marketing strategy.

Things like that make me even more sure that getting rid of my 815 for the 8100 was the ABSOLUTE BEST CHOICE I could have made. Glad I also returned my Motorola headset and went with a Jabra. I know Motorola is an American company and all, but if they are going to condone things like that, then I'm glad to not have any part of it!

Mary,

There are a lot of rumors and bashing on both forums. By the way, I'm glad that you found a phone that worked for you. Everyone has different tastes and ideas about cellphones. I think most of us know the difference between good, honest reviews and fake reviews to boost or lower the overall ratings. Same thing with these forums. I have nothing bad to say about either phone. What works for one, may not work for another. Sure wish people would get this straight and stop bashing in the context they have. 🙂

Makes me really wonder why people don't just get on with it and get a life. Obviously people who sit around and bash other companies have nothing else better to do with their time, even if they are Motorola employees.

Moto people are so evil. The 8100 rating keeps going down because of all the bad ratings from people who don't know what they're talking about. This phone is great!

If that is the case then I think moderator should take some action.

I baught the both e815 and vx8100, e815 just because of rating in the forum is so high and vx8100 due to praise from lot of user and used LG in past with great quality phones.

Caguy - since you got both phones and seem honorable enough - what is your opinion of both phones - and does one stand out above the other?

I cannot speak for caguy, but we have both phones also. I think they are both great phones. I just hate when me and my partner have the same phone. he uses the e815 and I use the 8100. I think the differences between these phones come down to personal preference. I do not think you can go wrong with either phone. Both are so similar. The 8100 feels a little more solid and i like the look of it, the smoother flip, the side mounted speakers and the better external screen. The e815 has a larger screen, more classic look, better menu graphics, and a slightly better voice dial interface. I am a little concerned about the up and down volume issue with the 8100 though and the e815 is a little large and sometimes feels a little flimsy.
