FINALLY!
Just wanted to let everyone know...I have purchased a data cable for the vx8100 and have successfully transferred mp3s to my phone using the method described on this thread:

You don't need to chop your mp3 files or change the extension at all if you have a miniSD card, which I do. I have them on my phone in full length format.
It took me several hours to even get my computer to recognize the phone - but it was all well worth it.
This phone is definitely worth it...I'm only paying $50 for mine after rebates!!! Amazing price for such a versatile phone. The features are unsurpassed by any other phone, in my opinion. I also have had no problems with call clarity and haven't had any experience with the call volume fluctuating as others have mentioned.
The only issue is the reception, for me. This is due to my area though - NOT LG. I get excellent reception except for when I am inside buildings. This was never an issue with my previous phone which was a tri-mode phone.
Anyhoo - GREAT PHONE...I am excited to own it finally.

Ya, and please explain a little about the mp3 process...which cable you used and which drivers...cuz i want to spring for the 7000 cable on ebay if it works just as well.

I just got the 8100 and was wondering if it was possible to use the outside controls and have the cphone closed and use the mp3 player?
