People!!! REMEMBER to condition your battery!

To have the best battery charge possible:

For at least the first 10 charges, drain the power to where is is almost completly drain (or 1 bar). Then charge it overnight. This will give the battery a "memory" of what a drained and a full battery should be.
If you charge it when it is only half full in the first few charges, the battery will have the "memory" of no power at the halfway mark, when in actuality, it has 50 percent more power.

***Of course, this is true with the older generation of batteries. This may not still hold true with this generation of batteries.***

The battery is THAT bad??... I wanna be able to make my calls during the day and use the camera 😕 That's really all, I have the Samsung a890 and it's battery life is just about double (comparing manuf specs) the life of the 8100. I really think I wanna switch to the 8100 so I'd appreciate if you could let me know about how long i took for your battery to drain out. Have you had the volume problem? 🤭 Please n thank youuuu. 🙂

Its that bad, Over the past week i have left it on standby, no use at all, while i am sleeping only to find the 8100 either completely drained of the battery or one bar short of it. This is the worst battery life of any phone i have ever used. I have been loyal to LG since 1999. I have never owned any other brand. And this phone is the worst of the bunch. Terrible battery life. I don't understand why so many people here are so willing to live with this in return for useless gadets. Its almost like they are trying to feel better and convince themselves and everyone else that this is a good phone. Don't waste your time, I am gonna go get something else today. Thank god for the 15 day return policy. This phone is not worth the frust...

I just got the phone yesterday and I have to say i'm very pleased. I used the phone all day yesterday and I only lost one bar for the battery. I don't know what people are talking about when they say they are using it for 15 minutes and have to charge it. I used the camera, video recorder, transfered all my phone numbers (cause i didn't feel like paying $10) and made phone calls. And...just one bar had vanished.

I'm not sure why someone told you to condition your cell phone battery in this fashion. That approach was used with some of the older batteries, such as NiMh, but even then 10 cycles were not necessary. The Lithium Ion batteries used in most cell phones today, incl. the 8100, do not develop such a memory. You only need to run them all the way down about once every 30 charging cycles.

The following two resources are not the final word on the subject, but do give pretty good info about batteries.

Here's the deal with all the new cell phone batteries.

Each Li battery has about 500 "cycles" before it starts to charge up to about 80% of its capacity.
After that, the capacity will start to decrease (until you will have to recharge it often).

Definition of 1 (one) cycle - The amount it takes to completely discharge a battery 100%.
If you charge your phone every night, it will charge up whatever amount you used that day.
One complete cycle is ALL those little daily charges that you do.
So one little charge does not count as a cycle, but its all those little ones add up to one cycle.

so here is an example:

you use 10% first day, recharge it at nite to 100%. It would take you 10 days (at 10% each) to add up to 1 full cycl...
