Just experienced the volume issue!!!

Well, I just saw first hand what some people where talking about when they said the volume went up and down. I was talking to a friend of mine for about 20 minutes and during the call he would fade away to almost nothing for a few seconds then be right back at full volume. Very annoying!!! I hope Verizon comes up with a patch for this quickly or we may own two e815 before our 15 days are up. 😡

NO KIDDING!!! Let me say first off that I absolutely love this phone, the features, look, feel, everything. My first few calls went fine, loud and clear. I was talking to my brother in Minneapolis and the earpiece volume went from fine to extremely bad (had to mute the TV and practically shove the phone into my ear to hear him) on and off for our 20 minute conversation. At first I thought the people complaining about this (sorry about the lack of trust) were LG haters, but now I know that it really is true. Does ANYBODY know what to do? I really love the phone, and I am lost. ps-At least they really did really release the phone on the 15th!

I too have had the fading volume issue - but only on one call in the few dozen I've made. I was not thinking about it at the time (I had not read that others were having an issue) but I know I was in the car and moving rather fast...

Does not sound like there's an obvious pattern, but perhaps if we all try to recall the circumstances when it happens that could help the techies fix it in the next release.

The next time it happens, I'm going to hang up and try the call again - that's a pain in the butt if it happens a lot, but so far it's been infrequent.

Have all of you checked to make sure "AUTO VOLUME" was off?

Go to Menu, then settings & tools, select #5 (call settings), then #6 (auto volume) and make sure "off" is selected.

Yes, based upon this forum I have the Voice Privacy set to Standard and the Auto Volume set to Off.

btw - they are both under Tools / Call Settings if someone is looking to do this, too!!

I sent you a message through Phonescoop but perhaps you never received it. I have read most of your messages and I know you are pretty much taking the middle ground with both of these phones (8100/815). I know you and your partner are using each - and probably trying to make a decision before your 15 days are up.

If you get a chance - could you tell me which one you are leaning toward at this state and whether the sudden clarity/volume issue with the 8100 is now making you sway more toward the 815. Are you having any problems with the 815 at all, i.e. do you still have the echo problem - or do you have any type of reception/clarity/volume problem with the 815?

Any insight you can give me (as I trust your judgement) would be appreciat...

I had the 815 for over a week (got tired of waiting for the 8100 so decided to go with that and switch to the 8100 before my 15 days were up). I started to really like it and considered not even getting the 8100 at all. Well, when it was released, I went in to look at it and since I was so excited about it and wanting it in the first place, I just had to have it, so I bought it. At first I thought maybe I would regret it as the 815 IS a good phone, but I too, think it is kind of "flimsy". You could squeeze the phone lightly at the bottom near the charging port and it would move (as if the two halves weren't fit together properly) and the hinge felt "weak" IMO. I did like the bigger screen on the 815, but the phone itself was on the bigg...

I, too, have experienced the volume issue on several occasions... sound drifting in and out!! I received a couple of calls from a friend in South Korea and the sound was crystal clear, like he was a block away in New York!! My concern is that it is an intermittent problem... you never quite know when it's gonna happen! It's very annoying, and in my opinion, renders the phone useless. BUT... I love the phone!! I hope the issue gets resolved, otherwise LG and Verizon will be getting truck loads of returns!!

Regardless of all the exotic features of the 8100, a phone has to operate competently as a PHONE, first and foremost!!!
