Yo. I read some other site saying they found how to get to the mp3 player on phonescoop but i didnt see it here . to get to the mp3 player, press menu, then press 0 seven times, then press 9 which is get it now settings, then go to 16 which is get it now, and go to media player. i believe you need a mini sd card and then it wont be so complicated to get to the media player. im gonna get my one GIG soon and put music on dat sheet.

Thanks. That has not been posted here before. what site did you get this info from? and what else can you do from that service menu. i see that you can enable BT DUN from the Data category. can you enable bt OBEX so i can send pixs/mp3 via bluetooth.
Thanks again man. i was just about to take the phone back for the e815 but now i'll hold onto it to see if more features can be enabled.
if you have any info on how to make an mp3 a ringtone i would very much appreciate that info too.
peace,
j

yo. np, i think it was some other forum site, i forgot though. i dont think its good to mess with that menu 0 stuff that much , i asked verizon a while ago on my 7000 and they said its for verizon programming and ****, but i dont think it will harm the phone. also some options u press on the menu 0 will restart your phone, so dont get scared. im waitin for my mini sd card, and i was wondering if i can make mp3s as ringtones to, but ima try to find out once i put music on my fone

Thanks,
i'll be sure to be cautious as i check those settings. it did restart on me and i was freaked out for a second 😲 but the still phone works fine.
If you go over to the e815 forum there are posts on how to email yourself 30 second mp3's and set them as ringtones. the downloading part works great i have bob marley's "one love" saved and ready to go but can figure out how to make it a ring tone.
if anyone else reading this thread has any thoughts, they are appreciated.
peace,

my friend bought the audivox cdm 8940, and he can set his mp3s as ringtones. he uses this mini sd router , and connects his mini sd to the computer, and gets music that way. he also uses a program and selects which ever part of the song he wants and sends it to his fone to be a ringtone, ima see if i can do that once i get my stuff

dudes!
nice info even though i haven't tried yet. another thing is how can i ship my mp3 files on my pc or labtop to the phone?
i tried many times using bluetooth but it looks like ftp is not supported on this phone.
i believe they sell data connectors and sw for $40-50 which i am very relunctant to pay for. i just like to play mp3 i downloaded to my pc on the phone.
my next try would be buy mini sd card and reader/writer and copy mp3s directly from pc to the card and play on the phone? question is will that work?
any idea folks?

today i put my cousins mini sd into my fone to see if it works. he has sprint, but the sd cards are all the same. he had 512MB with lots of songs on it, and when i put it in my 8100 i could not find where or how to play the songs. i even went to the menu , 0000000, get it now settings, and get it now, to the media player, and i still could not find out how to play songs. but i could transfer pictures or voice recordings to the minisd, im not sure if this fone has mp3 player. ima go to verizon and ask them, and if i cant find it ima return it and get another fone

You can't play mp3's the way you guys are talking about here.....unfortunately the phone doesn't support...the good news is you can convert an mp3 to a 3g2 file using super v1.791. After you do that you put the file in your "flix" folder on the mini card. Then you can use the flix player to play a sound file. The phone simply doesnt support mp3's at this point, and there isn't a way to play them using the button on the outside yet either. Trust me, there are a lot of threads about this on here, and reading through them all is how I found the above solution....at least you can play something at this point!! Hopefully, the mp3 software will come out soon.

how bout usb calble + bitpim? has anyone tried that? i read all the thread and it looks like copying to sd card is not an option.
however i saw somebody used usb cable and bitpim on vx8000 (not 81000) before and was able to play full songs using the button in front.
hey do you know where i can get usb cable for lg phones not on line but stopby shop?
good day!

downloading to the phone isn't an option since it only has about 25mb of room. It has to play off the card. Look for the thread on a program called super 1.791 to find out how to convert and play mp3's

Make sure your phone has at least v 4.0 software on it. It will play mp3's through a much better mp3 player, from the card, and the outside buttons work. Check this forum out, tons of info on it since the software upgrade was avail a few months ago.

You can play MP3, you just have to rename the file to .mid to get it to play. Make sure the file name isn't long.
Just to be safe just rename file so that it is 8 char or less with extension .mp3
example:
Hello World.mp3
rename to hello.mid
then transfer to your miniSD card, it should play

Does it play longer than 30 sec.?

If you do not have v04 on your phone, than you cannot use the MP3 player until you get this done. It is free and you can have it done at any Verizon corporate store. If you already have v04, then you need to format your card in your phone in order for the folders to show up.

hit this on your phone, menu, setting, system, device info, the sw version. If it ends in one you need to take it in and get an update, if it ends in 4 then go buy a mini sd card, stick in your phone, turn phone off then back on, take card out and put in card reader attached to computer and open it and you will see an mp3 folder. once you have mp3's on their simply close the phone and hold the play button down and your mp3 player will pop on. If you just received your phone it should have had a red vcast wallpaper as the default wallpaper if you got version 4. i hope that helped
