Just got Off Phone With Verizon

from what the tech dept had said over the phone is that there is supposed to be a link in the my sounds to save as a ringtone. and that the phones that have a pic dissapearing after being taken is that there is a glitch in the programming with the phone all the rest of the problems there is a setting in the phone to fix it like volume going up and down for example... The mp3 player is not supposed to work yet until further notice but it is capable of working now with programming outside of verizon short terms it can be hacked other than that...

They are sending me a new Phone..
I am hoping they fixed the prob on my new phone when it gets here

sorry i forgot to add on to the ringtones thing i was told theres supposed to be a link true but there was not anywhere, or set up in the phone or the programming they also said it would work if downloaded from get it now and i also have not seen a link or had it go to an area to use it. my suggestion would be to call and complain or send an email about it but as for the mp3 player they are waiting for the later service to come out sorry.. 👿

Called VZW Tech Support to hear it right from the horse's mouth about setting custom ringtones from the "My Sounds" folder. They got me on the pnone with someone from LG. LG said that it can't be done at this time, and I would have to get a confirmation with Verizon as to if they have this feature planned in an update. I told Verizon and LG that it is absolutely ludicrous for the top of the line 439 dollar LG phone that Verizon offers to not be able to set custom ringtones. They really didn't have much to say to that. I asked them if the phone will be able to do that in the future with a firmware or software update, and neither of them were able to answer that one either. I told them that it is pretty pitiful to not be able to do for a...

What's the difference between firmware and software?

The reason they don't have this feature is to force you buy ringtones off of Get It Now-- I've noticed this phone has the worst ringers out of all the phones I've ever owned.

I'm hacking this one for my own ringtones.

Software is a general term for a program.

Firmware is a program that is perminant in memory, or hard wired into the computer (or phone in this case). The only way to change is to Flash the phone (erase and reprogram), this can only be done at the stores and takes about an hour when they have a phone that they have to upgrade. The last phone that i had to have upgraded was either the 6k or 7k, i don't remember

Yea... about what devious 1 said:
- If there IS a glitch in the phone, which a Techie supposedly told you, did you happen to ask, Now what happens?? Updates, settings, anything?
- Verizon is not sending out new phones (especially to every 8100 owner), just because we can't download ringers and some of our pictures disappear. (-LG also supposedly told a customer that the songs absolutely cannot be set as ringtones)
- I'm just as disappointed as everyone else about the loudness (or lack of) the 8100 has.
- The Tech Support stands pretty firm, if they're telling you to change settings (ie the volume situation) they're not sending you a new phone after that "not working" for you the first try.
- It didn't make very much sense, if you're go...

I read on the forum about setting auto volume to off and also the privacy to standard. I did all of that before I posted my message. I am still having problems and one call they were shouting at me and they still faded in and out.
