If I have to switch phones...
If I have to switch phones, and I can live without bluetooth, would Samsung SCH A-890 be a good choice? I really like the quality of that phone. Of course I love the features of the 8100, but I might have to switch if the volume issue is not resolved. Does anyone here have any first hand experience with the Samsung?

I had the SCH A-890 and it was a very nice phone! Very sturdy, nice clear screens, easy menus, very nice looking phone! As far as volume on your 8100, have you tried turning off auto volume and setting voice privacy at standard? Try that and see if it clears up your volume issues.

I tried that and it does seem a little better. But I think the volume is still drifting a bit, like I never had on my LG-6000! 🙄

I had and still have the Samsung SCH-A890. I decided to buy the VX8100 and give it a shot for a couple of weeks. The A890 is definitely a nice phone, but clearly doesn't have as many features as the 8100 has and hopefully will have in the future. I didn't really have it that long to say that I had it all picked apart though, so I can't really comment on what all you can do to it with a data cable or anything, but I can comment on the clarity of calls which was real good, and the reception was real good too. The screens are nice and clear too. If it had a speaker phone, I probably would have kept it.
I'm going to hang with the 8100 for now and hope that things work out with it. Good luck with whatever you do.

Thanks for your help. I guess I'll stay with the 8100 for a little while longer.. maybe return it for another one to see if that helps the volume problem I've been experiencing.
Hopefully there will be some fixes for the assorted minor problems that are being discussed here.
In the end, though, I have to be able to hear my callers, so I may have to switch to Samsung or some other. But I do love all the features of the 8100 and hope it works out!
Thanks again!
