I presume the CNET raters of this phone must either be less demanding or very lucky (or perhaps certain Motorola employees have stayed away) - out of the last 14 reviews of the 8100 - it has received a 9 (out of 10) rating or better from twelve reviewers!

CNET protects its reputation by being a little more concerning about the posts they allow. it is obvious that phonescoop only protects motorola since it removed negative reviews from the e815

I won't disagree - but my main point is that if one were just to read phoneScoop and Howardforums then one would get the idea that the 8100 was one bad production of a phone. I think on HowardForums there are more techies and if they can't hack a phone within 72 hours then the phone automatically becomes a bad phone. If the favorable response portrayed on CNET is more universal then I am a little more optimistic that this in fact is (or will be) a great phone.
