Um, anyone else tried to set a recurring date in their calendar? I did, and it doesn't "recur". It will show up for ONLY the date I physically added.
For example:
Go to today's date (July 20th) or whatever date you prefer.
Set an event to recur monthly.
After saving, go to the next month and you will notice that event is not there (at least not for me).
Anyone else notice this?
Thanks for checking!

same thing happens for me!! luckly i dont use the calandar so i dont care. the only thing that i can think of is that maybe it is recurring but not displaying the recurrence??
good luck

Yeah, thanks for checking that for me! I normally don't use the calendar much either - I was just testing it out. I normally use the calendar just to see "Oh, this day is on a _." Or "Next Friday is the _."
Maybe that can be a software (or whatever-ware) fix.

When you go and set the date you have to choose a start date and end date. By default it sets it to the same date as the starting point. Set it to some date in the future and it will set the recurrence until the end date.

I have stated that in my previous message.

Mine works fine...remember to set the date range.

Awesome, it works! Thanks!!

Hey THANKS! I should've checked that out! Hmmm, not been getting enough sleep lately I think my brain is lost somewhere!

Thanks for the info WDW!! Your suggestion worked perfectly. Not sure how I initially missed this simple step, but you just saved me a lot of frustration. Great work!! đ

I think it's ewasy to over look things. I'm excited to play with then phone just everybody else. I missed a lot of things the first time around.

Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem with the calendar. I have a ton of entries, and most are set up to either repeat weekly, monthly, or yearly. None of them are showing up after the initial reminder. Very frustrating to have to manually re-program them for the next time.
I haven't experienced any of the other issues that people have been talking about, but suffice to say that if the calendar "bug" is happening, I'm sure the other problems will crop up sooner or later. If you think back to when the LG VX 6100 was released, it also had a lot of issues initially, all of which were solved by a firmware update. Problem was, the first firmware update for that phone didn't come out for what seemed like forever, so my hope is that ...

Definitely - I agree! After looking at the e815 compared to the vx8100, there's no way I'd switch! The issues I've had have all been minor and aren't enough reason for me to get a completely different type of phone.
Like I said, I don't set dates in the calendar that often, but I'd like to be able to put recurring dates, like birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
Thanks for the input!

I just tried to set a weekly and a monthly event and have the same problem. I do like using the calendar feature to remind me of appointements, although I have not have the recurrence feature in the past with my phones so I guess at least I'm not used to having it.
I also am disappointed in the limitations on the 8100, but I did try out the 815 for a couple of days and did like the fact you could use the voice commands and make calls without opening the phone. But I found out I can still do the voice commands with the 8100 with the bluetooth headset without opening the phone which is great. I like some of the features on the 8100 more, like the outside screen, speakers, tip calculator, & ability to read text msg from outside screen. ...

To be honest with you, I don't know much about the e815 and its abilities w/ mp3 and bluetooth. I looked @ the e815 when it first came out and then @ the 8100 when IT came out and liked the 8100 better. I know that on the e815, the external screen is not a good thing. When you set a wallpaper to the mail screen, it sets it to the ext. screen as well. I couldn't find a way to set them indivdually - same goes for the contrast.
With the firmware/software updates, I think you have to go in the store and have it done. you would need to call and check b/c they don't notify you when one is available. âšī¸

...after selecting the recurrance (weekly, daily, etc.) you need to go back to the date and set the begin AND end dates for the series. đŗ đŗ đ đ

It can be done when you're setting up the event. You just have to set the date with the set option on the lower left hand side, then proceed. I'm not sure how much more intuitive you need it to be, unless you want the recurrence to go on into infinity.
...
...two of us figured it out and four others didn't - even when three of them knew the other was having a problem.
What about an appointment that crosses days - how would you set that as recurring?? (i.e. 11:45PM to 12:15AM ?? Is that intuitive, too?? đ

That's what's considered a limitation. It was easy enough to figure out if you just read what was on the screen, thus it was inuitive to me.

I'm used to the interface on my old phone, so I don't bother to read until something goes wromg!!
Didn't Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes fame) say "Reading instructions is for wimps!!"

I'm used to my 6000. This took a little getting used to. Things are just different. It took me a while figure how to send a pix to an email address in my contacts list. I was typing those things manually. đ
Overall I like the phone. So far it's been pretty good, no major issues. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
