Camera Delay

I know it's annoying when people post the same thing over and over but I've only seen this one other time in this forum with no resolution.

There is a delay between the time when you click OK to take a picture and when the picture is actually recorded. I want to see if anybody else can duplicate this.

If I click OK to take a picture on my phone the frame will freeze the exact moment I press the button with the shot I wanted...a second or two will pass and it will freeze the frame again and actually record the picture. By that time the subject has already moved and the moment was lost.

Anybody else experience this? Are there any fixes? I've tried messing with resolutions and zoom and nothing makes a difference.

Doesn't happen when the flash is off.

It happens with the flash on OR off with me. I can't figure it out. Nobody else has really said anything so I'm beginning to this I'm the only one with this issue.

I have the same issue. But if you hit the "Clear" button right after taking the picture it gets the right shot 99% of the time.

Tried that too... doesn't work on my phone. We shouldn't have to do anything. It freezes the frame when you press the button to take the picture, it should record it. =\

AGREED!! I have the same problem. Flash/No Flash, doesn't matter. Clear after the "initial freeze" - still doesn't capture the initial shot. I'm surprissed this hasn't come up on everyone's CONS lists. Living with a camera that has a 1-2 sec delay is a major PITA!

...for ANY problem is remove the battery for a 'reset' of the phone. You've probably already tried it already but if not - give it a shot!

Apparently if you look under OPTIONS and then SELF TIMER when the camera is on, you see the standard is 3 seconds which explains why all of you are having a delayed response.

In order to have a quicker response, I just hit the CLR button twice and it takes it almost instantaneously.

It's not a self-timer issue. There is clearly a problem with the phone.

I did notice on my VX6000 after I took a picture it would name the picture Pic01 Pic02 Pic03 and so on... This phone just uses a string of numbers. The last one was "0720051606". Does everybody's phone name pictures like that?

Yes, that's the naming convention I get.

And I agree, it's not a self-timer issue. I checked all of the settings including self-timer before I tested the issue.

It's not a self-timer issue. I checked all of the settings (including self-timer) before I tested the issue.

Please try not to post your guesses or opinions as if they are facts, it can confuse some people. Rather than say "apparently" and "explains" perhaps you could have said "Did you check" and "might explain"

Thanks.

It's the time and date people...and please double check YOUR assumptions. Next time take a picture and count to three. 😛 So check the self time and its conveniently at three seconds with no other options for less!

Cheez 😛

'Apparently' can't accept that.

Apparently 'ShowMeYours' doesn't have it, and I only have it when the flash is on - so if we can find some folks without the issue, we will know whether to bother Tech Support with the issue or whether we need to decide to live with it (or not.)

Here's a recap:
Click OK to take a picture and the frame will freeze the exact moment the button is pressed, but in a second or two it will act as if it's taking another picture instead - thus freeze the frame again and actually record the second picture.

Thanks.

although in low light, my pictures aren't coming out very well. I think lower resolution and darker setting on the brightness helps.

If you don't have the problem - try, after taking the picture, press OK again to 'Send' the picture. Then just clr/no save the message, and try the camera again.

Yes, I've experienced this. I just hold my hand position after I take the picture. It's kinda like Jordan's shot to win the 1998 championship. You gotta pose wit it. 😁

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I got my phone yesterday (after reading this forum and deciding to give it a chance) and logged back on today to figure out this camera delay issue. It is VERY frustrating! It is almost enough to make me want to take it back, but I love the bluetooth and everything else so far, so I'm hoping I don't have to go through that hassle. Nothing has worked.

I have experienced this problem with two vx-8100's. I still have the second phone. I'm in the Indiana calling area, but I got the phones while on vacation in Vegas. I'm waiting to get back to Indy to exchange for the third time just in case that area received a bunch of phones with this problem, not to mention I have better things to do than to stand in a VZW store for a decade while in Vegas. 👿 U guys that are having this problem, were are u located?

this is a problem for every single VX8100 released. I'm hoping for it to be addressed with the firmware update. notice that our phones came with v01 instead of an already beta tested and improved version v02 or v03 like the VX8000 was when it was released. i guess it seems like we have a rushed v01 beta system on our VX8100's. especially considering this phone was released before MOD, when it should have released simultaneously.

but i'm sure the next firmware update will be released soon.

>especially considering this phone was released before MOD<

I'm betting that the issues with the MOD service will have more to do with the record companies and licensing deals. Cant sell music without them... Verizon may be able to dictate a lot to LG about what it wants but it doesnt have the same power over the record industry. Apple on the otherhand... maybe. vzw is small fry in that ball park.

Yes, this problem exists on my phone as well - flash or no flash, CLR button or not.

But it's related to the resolution of the images - if you lower the resolution, the "delay" will be shorter and shorter. The longest and most noticable delay is on the 1280x960 setting. On 640x480, there is a tiny delay, but manageable, and even less at 320x240.

This is a clear bug which needs to be fixed in the firmware.

The delay is unaffected by changing the resolution on my phone.

Unfortunately resolution setting isn't the answer for me.

I'll have to wait for the firmware update.
