I've been waiting on the 8100 for months. I'm not all THAT disappointed with it, like some are. However, there are two issues that concern me, and I need to make a decision before the 15 day trial is up. First, the fluctuating volume really bothers me. Its not like it goes so low that I can't hear the other person, its just that it fluctuates constantly, and its extremely bothersome. the other issue is the speakerphone. I've actually not even had a chance to try it out to see what others say about the quality of it. I had the LG4500 before moving to this phone and loved the speakerphone on it...nice and clear. People said they couldn't even tell I was on speakerphone. So if that IS an issue with this phone, I'll be disappointed. I'm okay...

I have been going through the same thing and decided to keep it as I was told at verizon their should be a "Fix" coming for the volume issue. I still believe that the 8100 is the best quality phone they offer right now.. The E815 seem cheap to me. I have loved my last 2 lg's and this one will be fine. Hope this helps.. remember, after 15 days they still have to fix a broken phone or replace it for a year.. LG's warranty.

If you give me a day or so I'll tell you what I think about the 8000. But as for the size, do the side by side comparison on the vzw website and you'll see that there aint a whole lot of difference in the sizes. The 8000 is taller but thinner than both the 8100 and the 815. The 815 is the heaviest. I will admit that the 8000 looks like a brick. But then, I aint that pretty to look at either... đ¤Ŗ

i just returned my 8100 and got the 8000,so far so good!!!!!!!!!besides not much different than the 8100 as far as features, you can buy the adapter for bluetooth...and like most digital cameras and camcorders, has a ccd camera.IMO.

Did you turn off the Enhanced Voice Privacy mode, and the Auto Volume mode? Those two things eliminated the volume problem with my phone.
As for the speaker phone, try using it a few times. I've made some calls where the recipients have said I sounded like I was in a hole, and far away, and some where they knew I was on speaker, but said it wasn't that bad.

I did it first thing when I got it out of the box, having known that this could be an issue. Its still fluctuates. âšī¸

to answer your question about the 8000 I have had it for about 3 months and love it. the only issue i have had is when I play mlb baseball. if I try to go back into a saved game, sometimes my phone will reset itself. other than that you get used to the size.

Forget the ugly 8000, if u decided u don't liek 8100 I recommend going for Samsung SCH-a890 instead. That phone is sweet in every aspect exept, of course it lacks bluetooth. The menues are fun and it's less in size than 815, 8100 and duh! 8000 đ. If onley it had bluetooth I'd buy it in a snap, but if bt doesnt matter for u then I recommend this phone.

I had the Samsung sch-a890 and loved it! I miss it too. I agree, if it had Bluetooth, I would still have it!

How was the reception and volume on the sch-a890?
Did you have any concerns or problems with it?
...
Reception and Volume were both great! I had absolutely NO problems or concerns with it. I just really wanted a bluetooth phone, as I have two small boys and I care for my 96 year old Grandmother and therefore ALWAYS have my hands full and wanted the convenience of the complete hands-free that I have with Bluetooth. If it weren't for it being absent of Bluetooth, I'd say it's almost a "perfect phone" IMO. I loved the look and feel of it. The more I talk about it, the more I'm missing it! âšī¸

Thanks for your nice review!! đ If I decide against the 8100, I might consider the a890 since I don't really need BT. I just want a high quality phone with a camera that works "great" as a phone and at least "good" as a camera.. if it has a few extras, that's a bonus for me!! Thanks again!! đ

No problem! I'd say definately if you don't care about bluetooth and decide against the 8100, you won't go wrong with the a890.

I'm in the same boat. The fluctuating volume isn't constant, but a pain nevertheless. Also, the ear piece volume on some calls appears to be worse than my old phone (LG 510, indestructible). Reception isn't any better (than my old 510) either, which may just be a coverage issue, but I had hoped for better.
Also, what's up with the battery life? I first got the phone last Friday, charged it overnight and it lasted thru Tuesday evening (with a bar left I believe). Charged it again Tuesday night, and this afternoon the thing dies on me (less than 2 days). Had about a good hour's worth of calls, a few VCast downloads, and a few snapshots with the camera. Is that all I can expect from the regular battery, and is there/will there be an extended...
