1) When I use speakerphone others complain that the call quality is not good, they say that it gets crackly and they hear a lot of background noise as well as echo. It's not bearable for them. I've tried both on landlines and other cell phones.

2) When I go to take flix, as I'm recording, the phone reboots. Doesn't happen all the time, but happens very often.

3)When I take high-res pics (640x480 or 1280x960) in low light, when I actually click the button to take the pic, the one it took is very grainy compared to what I was looking at on the viewfinder before I took the pic.

4) Sometime when I receive a call and I have the phone set to Vibrate only it rings as well, also

5) I have had some problems wit...

Dear Stacey,

Thank you for inquiring of LG Electronics.

The VX8100 does not have an MP3 player, but the phone is capable of playing MP3 tones through the MOD (Music On Demand) service that is offered and supported by Verizon. LG does not provide support for this feature on the phone. At this time, the MOD service is not yet available for the VX8100. For further information on this service and its availability, you will need to contact Verizon.

In addition, we certainly apologize for any issues you are experiencing with your VX8100. In regards to your inquiry, the issues you mentioned are not issues of which LG is aware. However, we definitely appreciate your feedback. Please know that your inquiry will be passed along to our enginee...

LG produced a phone. Gave it to VZW who fuc**d with the software, thus messing everything up. I guarantee this is why people are having problems. They are like Apple. Every time they update the system it causes more problems. They can't keep their hands off something good. They messed up the v710, e815 and the vx8100. As long as people screw with the software, there will be problems. I'm sure all these people who got their hands on unlocked phones aren't haven't any problems.

What do you mean unlocked? How do I know if mine is unlocked or not? Because I feel like I am the only one NOT having problems, and keep waiting for the bomb to drop. Did these problems show up right away? Or are they happening later? I've had mine for almost a week now with NONE of the issues (knock on wood).

Any phone that VZW produces is locked. This means they altered the software to their needs. If you read, a lot of the bluetooth software is unavailable, because they altered it. That is why an 'unlocked phone' sells for twice the price. They are available.

Verizon may set operational requirements/limitations for the phones, but I really doubt that they actually write the firmware itself. They may request a crippled feature set, but they surely don't request low volume, poor reception, and other flaky behavior. I think that the fault lies with the manufacturers for bad code, and VZW for not testing the phones adequately.

LG either never learns or doesn't care. The last few models of LGs that have been released are widely documented on the forums as having poor - mediorce RF and low/fluctuating volume (4500, 4700, 6100, 8000 and now seemingly the 8100).

Other than those under 13 years old, who cares about flashing colored pimp lights and video cameras when the reception sucks and you can'...

I had the 510. 6000 and 6100. I NEVER had a problem of any kind except for an very occasional lost call or feedback. And I'm sure they write their own firmware, not trusting it to an outside source, thus making it secure. If I remember right, they had Nextel in court for trying to copy part of their PTT. And the software, VZW installs, controls everything, including volume. As far as reception, not as good as Moto, as I have been told. I've never owned one. However, if too many LG phones hit , lets say tower X at the same time, it weakens the reception. I guess the Moto chipset is a little better than LG, but I believe the FCC has a hand in that. I heard that chipsets have to be approved by the FCC.

You had a lot better luck with LG than I have. My 6100 sucked - even in midtown Manhattan.

Verizon sets performace criteria but the phone manufacturers usually do supply their own firmware and operating systems - thats why the LG, Moto, Samsung interfaces are all different. (An exception would be the smart phones that use Windows Mobile. The interface is largely the same because the handset manufacturers license the software from Microsoft.) The software interacts with a pretty standard CDMA chipset (which they either buy or manufacture themselves) and Verizon's network technology. The details of the network technology are considered intellectual property but must be disclosed to the phone manufacturers so they can design the phones. This...
