I know this has probably been answered, the problem is that there are so many damn threads about mp'3 you can not sort through all the crap and get what you are looking for. I know multiple ways to get mp'3 on the phone and set them as ringers or play them. My question is if anyone has been able to get them into their tunes folder so they can play them on the outside of the phone while it is closed as a playlist. so in other words get the hidden mp3 player to work.
...
try searchin for front buttons.
...
uh yeah i know, i have been reading threads for about an hour now. I haven't seen any posts saying how to get those working, i have seen some posts saying they have heard you can do it , or someone's brother's uncle's sister knew a guy who worked with someone who heard how to do it from some guy he knew, but no specifics. I am also aware of the whole they will magically start working with the music on demand theory, but i think someone somewhere will figuere out how to hack in there, i saw some people get them working on the 8000. just curious if someone on here has actually got it to work and can explain how.
...
I may have missed it but I have yet to see 1 post where someone claimed to have the front buttons working. All the posts say the same thing that I have seen. They dont work yet. I never read that someone even knew someone that got it working. Who said that?
...
Someone posted they saw it on hofo, which i couldn't find there either, the part about someone's brothers uncle's cousin thing didn't really have much point. The simple fact is i have searched and found nothing so was wondering if anyone had figuered it out since there are rediculous amounts of posts on this subject it is a little tedious going back through all that crap to find info. People have figuered out how to do it on the 8000 so it is only a matter of time before someone figuers out how to get the songs into the tunes folder on this one. just checking to see if anyone figuered it out yet is all.

My sister's best friend's Mom's aunt's Sister-n-laws's cousin's friend can't figure it out either!

thanks i needed that π
I just got done getting yelled at by a customer becasue they thought it was my fault they dropped their phone in a glass of coke and i wouldn't give them a new one for free. I was thinking about screaming and then read that and it made me smile π

Slinging cell phones simply is the worst stigmatized sales job on the planet, other than peddling a cart around somewhere in a 3rd world country.

There is no real "source" here for the info...anyone can simply say, "theres an update on the way"...sounds like a bunch of cr$$ to me..

you obviously have no idea who roc-a-fella is.
if you knew what was down, you'd know that he is arguably the best and most reliable source regarding verizon wireless information on howardforums.
ok. i'm off the balls.
...
well then, hopefully they'll pull this off and get the mp3 player working then!!
...
i just spoke with a rep for lg (lg customer service) and she said that there is no plan for an update at this time and also that verizon wont activate the mp3 player untill mod is up and running.
...
You know what? I'll believe all of this when I see it!! I don't think verizon has done any of this because they didn't have time, or by accident...I doubt the mp3 buttons will ever work the way they were intended to!! what a grim thought!!!
...
i heard that exact rumor straight from the horse's mouth today! three weeks the update will be available seems they got a ton of complaints, i don't know exactly how it will work but the update will enable the phone to play mp3 files, now i don't know if that means we will be able to zap them off the card, but at leaste it has given me some hope. I for one am not going to mess with any of the phone setting and waite and see what the update does, i don't want to screw it up for the update, and it is the real deal, it is coming!!!!!!! if any one has more info on the update fixes please postπ

the 8000 was capable of playing mp3's with the front buttons because it had a tunes folder when you held the play button, and with the data cable and bitpim program you were able to set mp3's to play with the front buttons. but is there a way just to play mp3's on the 8100 even without the front buttons but with the phone open?? does it involve converting a file or straight mp3 will work.

noβΉοΈ it will not read mp3 format at all, you change them to mid or qcp and all that wonderful stuff, the update is supposed to fix this issue and allow the phone to read mp3 format, hopefully they will unlock the entire media player that would allow you to throw mp3 on card and play them in front, that is kinda of the feeling i got when it was explained to me, however they didn't go into detail and said they were not sure how that would work with music on demand that is in the works, my thing is i don't beleive anyone no matter how high up they are in verizon or lg until it is on my phone and working, guess we will see in three weeks! start the countdown!

the hidden media player in the get it now folder is not supposed to be the hidden media player. My 7000 had the same media player when you go in the get it now settings folder, it only played my flix files.

This is potentially very good news! I'm curious: which "horse's mouth" did this information come from, and how reliable is your source?
I got a vx8100 on 7/15 and have been very happy with it, having seen none of the problems others are experiencing. Volume is steady, battery is good, etc. Camera delay is apparent but only on highest resolution, and that's understandable because it's only a phone. 640x480 res is enough detail for the types of pics I take with it, plus I have a Nikon D70 for taking real pictures...
I love the video player capabilities too, and this in combination with a data cable or miniSD card make it pretty easy to move things around. Games are also fantastic on this phone - Need for Speed is truly amazing for a...
