I really think all the reviews are getting rediculous on here between the 8100 and the 815. You all have to realize many are probably fabricated. I would like to point out something to you.

one bad review for the 8100 and one good for the 815 this time.
Note the similar wording on the positive reviews for each.

Also, seeing people say "the 8100 sucks, blah blah, Im taking it back. The 815 is the best phone. (though it sounds like they dont actually HAVE the 815 yet. And seeing reports on the 8100 that are COMPLETELY opposite of each other. (volume is good, volume sucks, etc)

Did any of you reviewers actually TRY the phone before you bought it in the store?
I did (havent bought any yet though). I made 2 calls with the 8100 to the outside world. Both gave me NO problem with hearing them. They were quite loud. And the MP3 player? All of you whiners about this..... MP3s sound bad enough half the time cause people dont know how to make them decent - do you really want to hear these on that little phones crappy speakers?? Its a PHONE. I would think maybe 15 year olds would find it cool to hear crappy mp3s on a little pocket gadget with crappy speakers but no one else.

Ive spoken to Verizon people at 3 diff stores. They say there shall be a software upgrade soon regarding the V-cast feature but they all said theyve heard nothing about volume problems or speakerphone problems (and theyve all sold many of them). The last Motorolas seemed to have had many problems in their time as well.

Is this site just a bunch of 15 year olds giving reviews, many of those not even real reviews but just kids messing around like I pointed out above?

Reasearch is good (mandatory for myself) but it all has to be taken in with a bit of skepticism.

Dont mean to offend anyone specifically BTW.

eROES I really wanted to give this phone a good review. Really I did. But no amount of hype can save this phone. It is plain pitiful.

bad camera
jerky interface
horrible sound
below average reception
horrible charger port

good display
good side buttons

I would go with the 8100 instead. Much better phone.

This is just my personal experience with the 8100. I am heading back to the store today to exchange it....................I have had volume problems they are sporadic but I have had the volume drop to very very low in the middle of a call and then return to normal. My phone also completely froze dead after taking a picture.................so dead I had to remove the battery to get it back started again.............That just happened once though............The last kicker for me was on 2 phone calls the phone never rang it went straight to voice mail.....most times that would not be a huge issue but 1 call was from my sister-in-law calling to tell me my mother-in-law was in the hospital. That was a call I needed to receive...........Hopefully...

Well, as far as freezing up, this is the risk we get into the more we have phones that do all sorts of different things. Thats why there are testers in software companies whose sole job it is is to try to MAKE software freeze by doing all different things with it so they can fix what caused it. The more complex the software needs to be to handle all the demands of what the public wants a phone to be, the more there will be software conflicts. And the amount of testing done before a phones release, will be determined by how cost effective it ends up being.
People Ive talked to at Verizon stores (at least 4 diff employees) said the Motorola the 815 is replacing had LOADS of software problems its whole run.

As far as it not ringing and go...

I hated to give a bad review, but I wanted to give my honest opinion. I definately gave it the benefit of the doubt since I am on the 2nd phone, returning this one for one from a different mfg. I have owned lg before and never had this much trouble. Yes, I am new to the forums but I have been lurking around here for months to get info & reviews before I bought. I was just expecting as good as I had before and it wasn't the case. Not all are in here to make lg look bad, I could care less who made the phone, if it is bad, it's bad. That doesn't mean I will never buy another lg, we have 2 other 3200's in the house that are fine, I am only reporting on this one.

Just to be straight, I am not an "LG" supporter any more than anyone else. Ive had 3 phones since 1998 or 9 and only my first was an LG. I loved it, but later wanted other phones.

I just really think that public demand that we have phones that do so many different things is going to create more problems for everyone esp if the selection available in any given carrier is limited only to having all those extras if you want a "new" phone.

I mean, obviously, the space shuttle is way more prone to problems in flight than a typical passenger jet.

I am not saying everyones a liar, but I do believe that first of all, a portion of the reviews are bogus (as I proved for at least 4 of them) and second of all, people having problems are more...

I wonder why "you" or anyone else would be upset by anyone's review?

It is JUST a phone! I REALLY do think that anyone with a slight amount of intelligence would be able to sift through all the reviews and make their own minds up as to which phone is best for THEM.

I ordered a Samsung A670 online last spring, BUT, I did sift through all the reviews and I did go to a VZW store and play with many different choices prior to buying.

I guess my point is...........these are JUST cell phones! LG nor Moto pays any of us to praise or defend any of their products. Me not liking the 8100 or 815 should/will make NO difference to you?

WHY IS EVERYONE SO DARN MENTAL ABOUT THESE PHONES!!!!!!!! 😳 😳 😳 😳

I think upset is harsh though perhaps my words come across as such. I am DISAPOINTED at the lack of maturity discovered on this site compared to others I have checked out to learn about products and peoples opinions on them.
To say Im getting "upset" is wrong esp since I said that I take it ALL with a grain of salt and a bit of skepticism. But to see people reviewing completely bogus reviews, I am just surprised and want to make sure its pointed out. I am surprised that someone wastes their time in this short life to do such things. Even on this small scale.

I dont decide on these reviews (as Im still leaning towards the LG but have no immediate need to have a new phone from my V60i other than Id "like" a speaker phone and Id "like" to...

Sorry for the way I came across Sequoia225. I also shake my head at some of the things written on here.

I agree with you 100% What you have written is "right on". These forums should be for legitimate info written by people who actually have the phone they are reviewing.

That way people can come to these forums and get the helpful info they need to make the correct buying decision for "them".

Lenny

P.S. I also agree with your other views on the corporate world 🙂

I think it's obvious that people are biased and post bogus reviews. I will tell you though that this phone is not what it is cracked up to be.

I got my 8100 on the 16th and it is going back this weekend. It would have gone back this past weekend however I live close to an hour away from the closest Verizon store. I have an 8000 that I switched from. I loved the 8000 and still do. I am debating now if I will go back to the 8000 or give an 815 a try. I had a v710 and switched to the 8000. Honestly, I like both of those.

The 8100 has poor reception, period. At least the one have does. I have dropped a couple of calls now in my home sitting at my desk. I've made countless calls from that exact location with both the 8000 and the ...
