I know I have posted several times that I am keeping my 8100 and I am almost sure I am. however, yesterday and today my phone locked up on me again. I have the volume issue too. My bluetooth headset has not arrived yet so i cannot try it out.

My question is, has anyone changed their minds about keeping the lg after using it for 14 of the 15 days before you cannot return it.. I sorta of want to exchange it but, I wonder if the issues will be able to be fixed in the future. I really like this phone. I just do not want to get stuck with one that does not do what it is supposed to do..

anyone ..

I am on my 🤭 4th 🤭 VX-8100. This is only b/c I was advised to "try another handset - you're within your 15 days." So that's what I did. All 4 have had the same problem. I, personally, am going to keep mine. I'm hoping an update will fix the issues going on. If not, then I am up the creek! Personally, I haven't seen any other phones that Verizon offers that I am interested in. I'm going to stick it out with this one. Others, however, may disagree.

That is what I am thinking. Hearing of the E815's call quality makes me wonder about it. but, it just seems like a cheap phone they threw together so that they could sell in inexpensively so they can get the $15 a month for vcast. I am afraid of it. I do not feel the call quality of the 8100 is all that bad really.. I will have to sleep on it one more time I guess.

Yeah, have you actually looked at the e815? I know this sounds picky, but the external display on the 8100 is FAR better the e815's. I mean FFFAAARRR! Plus, on the e815 (from what I could tell), the external and internal displays work dependently (to an extent) of each other - meaning that whatever wallpaper you have on the main screen is the wallpaper you are stuck with on the outside screen. Same goes for contrast settings. However you set the main screen is how the outside screen will be, too. Like I said, this is from what I could tell - there may've been something I missed!

Plus, I like the way the 8100 looks more than the e815 (and other things too).

Good luck with your decision!

I have been reading this forum for a long time but have reseved any comments until now. Today is the 15th day of my trial period and I love this phone. No way is it going back. Mary, I'm wondering if you and I have the only 8100's that really work. I have had no problems at all with this phone. I have chosen to move slow and be as open minded as possible with this phone. I had a Motorola Star-Tac and I would be hesitant to ever buy Motorola again. I also thought the 815 was "tinny". I am using the HS820 Bluetooth headset and it is working out great for me. BTW, this is my third LG.

I think we ARE the only ones! Either that or just the ones with problems are getting on the forum to find fixes. Either way, I love mine too! This isn't my first LG either and I have had other brands too, but my LG's have been the best!

I've had quite a few LGs (all of which I LOVED) which is why I'm confident that the problem will be fixed. It's a brand new piece of equipment - glitches have to be worked out, things like that happen. LG has proven the quality of their products - at least to me - which is why I am willing to stick it out and wait for updates. 😁

I think piggys has the right idea. It's basically a good phone, and I think future software updates will improve it.

If you are worried about the 15 days, do what I did. Return the phone for a cash refund and re-activate your old phone. Then you can wait an indefinite amount of time to get another 8100 (or any other model).. you can wait a couple of weeks or a couple of months, or whatever!! 🤣

Good advice!! Another thing - if you decide to do that (return the phone and re-activate your old phone) then you may want to have them note in your account that you are still eligible for your upgrade. I say this b/c I (along with others in my area) have had SEVERAL issues with my nearest store messing up (which is why I avoid it at all costs - I have driven an extra 25 - 30 minutes to go to the next nearest since they seem like they know what they are doing). So, you may want to have someone note the account that way it's in writing (or typing) just in case someone tries to give you a hard time about re-purchasing the phone in the future (if that's the route you decide to take).

Good advice. Always double-check everything Verizon reps do.. if you're still not comfortable, then triple-check them!! 😁

I hate to say it because I like the layout of the LG menus, etc., but after having a new vx-8100 for a week and having significant earpiece volume level and fluctuation problems even after changing voice privacy and auto volume as well as sometimes severe clarity problems on the earpiece and speakerphone - I took the phone back and got an E815. First off the menu system in the 815 is more complex and not as easy to learn as 8100 unless you previously had an v710. However, the phone is more versatile in programming options such as screen contrast and brightness as well as doing contact searches either alphabetically or by speed dial # (1000 capable). Once you learn the menus it works fine. Now to performance as a cell phone. It clearly exceed...

You can still return it after 15 days, but you may only get the same one, they may give you a hard time but if you complain enought they will give in. As the cell gets older and you return it at a later time, you will eventually get reconditioned ones. In the last two years I went through 3 LG 6100 because of an unusual amount of dropped calls, they then upgraded me to the Samsung a670 which was great. I didn't have to pay extra for any of these.
