Lack of clarity --would appreciate any guidance

You'll all please forgive me if this has been brought up before, but this forum has gotten quite huge.

I just now finally got my 8100 --and am a first-time customer with VZW as well.

So far the biggest problem I have found with this particular phone is the lack of clarity --e.g. "S's" sounding like "F's-- in comparison to my ANCIENT Nokia 8390 (!!!) which is MUCH clearer.

I don't know if this anything to do with the earpiece (non-Bluetooth) I'm using or the difference between GSM (Cingular) and CDMA --but it's quite noticeable.

Also, using one of my regular trips from Orange County to San Diego for a first-time comparison to see if VZW IS really as good everyone says --especially to that of Cingular-- I dropped one of my first ca...

Ok I have a VZW CDMA phone and a T-mobile GSM Blackberry with phone and hands down, I swear by my Verizon Wireless service availability over T-Mobile any day.
However, in my opinion and observation the GSM service transits or relays the voice in a such clearer format. I will take my Plantronics headset and call my work voice mail and try it on both services. The gsm almost always sounds like a land line. The problem with my T Mobile service is you can never drive with it and keep a connection up here on the east coast.
F's sounding like S's....well yes CDMA combined with a not so great handset (they ARE all different)could do that but the 8100 has a very good ear piece and microphone.
What happens when you call with the headset? Cheap...

I came over from GSM too, and you are right about the difference in call quality. My GSM phone had better call voice quality than my current CDMA.

I guess it's a trade off. The CDMA seems to have wider coverage, but the GSM had better voice quality.
