So, you switching back? Please save me the frustration, if you know now what you didn't know then would you have made the same decision?
And what's with Mary, sounds like she's Queen around here? π If so Mary with all due respect let me know 'the' phone to get. It's got to work and work well the first time and everyday for 2 years, or until we part, or forever hold my peace.

I am the queen! π HA HA, just kidding, of course. I do feel pretty special here, though. It's so nice. As far as volume, if you have tried every option for a possible fix including changing voice privacy to standard and turning off auto volume, to making sure the earpiece was positioned right on your ear, then I'd say exchange for another 8100 and see if you have the same issues, as I know from personal experience that there are good ones out there. If you have tried that and failed, I can tell you that the Samsung SCH-a890 is a very good phone (but with no bluetooth), and also the Samsung SCH-a670 (also no bluetooth) is pretty nice and very small. The LG VX6100 is also a nice phone (with no bluetooth or video), so basically it just ...

π’ i really didn't want to have to do that, maybe i'll try exchanging it but somethin' tells me that it'll just be a futile attempt at solving the problem. i would have gotten the samsung 890 if i had known that this was such a viable issue, the only thing that steered me away from it is that it doesn't have blue tooth which i wanted to have as a future upgrade. damn, oh well - off to the Verizon store i go!!

I swapped my a890 for the 8100. I haven't had issues with the 8100, not even one. The a890 was awful as far as reception and Clarity were concerned. It had the pullout antenna and it sounded worse than any phone Ive had in the past few years. Theres not much customization and the front screen isn't impressive. No true tones... I could go on and on. Bottom line, I know 2 others who swapped the a890's for LG's... I'd just trade in for another 8100. GL.

Queen Mary. (bowing head) Any input on the E815? Like many Iβm torn between that and the 8100. I want it all. I want the latest, and greatest, the best quality. Based on all that you know and your obvious larger than most cerebrum, cerebelum, and medula oblongota the world is waiting to hear... π

Well, while I was inpatiently awaiting the 8100, I bought the 815 and I have to admit, I liked the phone for the most part. It worked great, put mp3's on it with no problem, internal screen was nice and big. BUT, what I didn't like about it was:
1. The big antenna on it. Even when it wasn't pulled out it stuck up so high. I personally prefer stub antennas and would love a phone with only an internal antenna.
2. When opened and using the phone, it felt so long to me. I like a smaller, more compact phone.
3. It feels cheap. Down by the charging port where the front of the phone meets the back, you could actually squeeze lightly and it would move-almost as if the two pieces weren't secured together correcty. I know some say a l...

very good points. I'm on a see-saw. I like the LG but bugs, especially volume ones scare me. Sounds like you got lucky.
Thought maybe I could save time and get a decision with a simple post, instead this forum is like a crack-house, I probably would have saved time if I just ordered 2 phones, tested them and kept the one that worked best. Appreciate the info. Iβll gather some more opinions (weighing yours more strongly of course π ) and make my decision next week. Unless I wait for the new Sammy, or maybe the Razr or the newβ¦.?

If you're looking for perfection, you have a very, very long wait, well beyond the Sammy and Razr!! π

once I invest into the 8100 I have 15 days to change it out. I do not know if the problem is with this particular phone or with the 8100 in general. If I swtich to another 8100 then I lose the opportuntiy to get the 815.
...
No, that's not right! If you exchange a defective 8100 for another 8100, that's still considered ONE phone (one MODEL). If you don't like the 2nd 8100 or if it's also defective, you can exchange it for the e815 (or an other new MODEL).
Thanks my understanding!
Mary, help!! π²
...
you are correct. I had received differnet responses to this issue from CSR over the phone. today I was emailed a written document stating I could excvhnge out as many times as I want within the 15 days across models etc.
Thanks for the clarification!

All you people having volume problems: by exchanging the phone, you're probably getting a refurbished one and never know what you're really getting. Me like Mary, haven't really had any problems. ONE volume issue in a bad cell area, but I would never exchange the phone, never knowing if the one you get is going to be worse. The answer, I don't know. They had to be aware of the problems before releasing the phone but did it anyway. Does that sound like a company that cares about their customers. As a matter of principal, I'm ready to go Cingular. π π π
...
Uh no, when I went in during my 2 week trial and said the phone was buggy I got a brand new phone. Also, I used to be a Cingular customer, and while they offer a better deal (fully functional bluetooth, nights and weekends starting at 7), their reception is not the best. In my apartment I had lousy reception, so I've switched to Verizon and its soo much better. π€£
...
You have to pay for those early nights and weekends though...
...
Yeah, I know, that part sucks. However, considering the constant dropped calls I think I made the right choice in switching to Verizon.

i had some volume issues not all the time and not that bad but i read in the forum to change voice privacy setting to standard and it worked no more volume issues
