Expectations

When buying a device that has multifunction devices I expect all the functions to work.

Phone has low volume issues
Camera doesn't take consistant decent photos
Can't play music with the phone closed

I have written and called LG & Verizon already and returned my phone. However I can't stress enough to them how dissatisfied I was with their claiming ignorance to their dysfunctional phone and user unfriendly policies pertaining to Get It Now.

Maybe a smartphone is the answer so you can back up your programs, games, music etc so you don't lose your GIN stuff down the line. And with a smartphone movies and music work at least.

Expecting all of the functions to work is fair. But you can only expect the functions that Verizon allows it to use not that LG gives it. Once Verizon buys the phones from LG they can do whatever they want to them.

The volume issue is a temporary one.

Same goes for the pictures

And the MP3 play...oh wait it was never marketed as an MP3 playing phone by Verizon and just because you see it on this website as having one doesn't mean that you'll get it, same goes for the 512MB.

Please explain these "user unfriendly policies pertaining to Get It Now."

This is by far the best phone I have ever had and as long as I've had Verizon every phone I get just keeps getting better and better.

Verizon decided to disable the phone so they can bleed its loyal customers more. It may be business but it is bad business to make customers angry and frustrated.

As far as Get It Now, What happens when you buy an unlimited version of software for 7.49 or whatever and your phone breaks 3 months down the line and Verizon replaces it? You have to go through a song and dance, plea and bargain to attempt to get them to authorize a credit so you can redownload the software. And what if you qualify for New every 2? You can't just go get your new phone and put on the applications and music You paid for from Verizon already. No they want you to pay again because it is another phone. However you as a customer want to transfer your data, games ...

I understand how you can feel like Verizon is bleeding it's customer's but with the release of the 2Q results you have to admit that they must be doing something right. If they wanted to they could limit every single feature until it could only be used to make and receive calls, just be glad you got what you did.

As for GIN; if you download something and then have a warranty swap all you do is download the exact same stuff and they credit it back automatically. How do I know? Because I had 4 6100's in an 8 month period, it works.

If you buy a video game for your PS2 does that mean that you deserve a copy for your XBox, PC, Gameboy, and PSP? NO.

If you return the PS2 because it is faulty and does not work properly then you should be able to either return the accessories or they should provide accessories that work with the replacement phone. After 15 days you are stuck with the phone but down the line after 3 and out and they give you another phone they should also at that time make it possible either by credits or data transfer all the games, ringtones, music etc you had on the faulty phone that was insured.

I understand your point so I have a question. Does any company do this? Can any cellphone's games, ringtones, and music be transferred. I'm pretty sure not but I don't know for sure. I was recently in the "3 and out" situation you referred to and I was told that if I redownloaded everything I had before that I would have been credited back for it. So that seems to be Verizon's solution for this. I'm sorry that it isn't instant but at least it's a solution.

how can you be certain the volume issue is a temporary one? You certainly hope so and would expect them to correct the pormblem but I have not seen any documentation stating that anyone intends on fixing this.

Every single Verizon phone I have had has started out with problems and Verizon always comes up with software fixes. Most recently the 6100 had a volume problem, few weeks later they had a software fix for it. Verizon takes care of their phones because if they didn't then they would have 47.5 million customers with broken phones.

It's like buying a new car, you never buy one in the first batch because they still haven't worked out all the bugs. Give it a month I heard there's going to be a software fix some time in August.

If this is true then maybe they ought to log in the complaints and then extend the WFG for those customers that are waiting for the fix.

If I keep the 8100 and there is no fix then I am s*** out of luck.

They shouldn't have to extend the WFG because YOU decided to buy it the day it came out (not literally). So maybe you should have waited a few weeks, watched the forum for problems, and checked to see if they fixed it. I've never seen a software problem in a Verizon phone that hasn't been fixed. Have you?

I have not been tracking VZW software problems for very long so I can not say from personal experience.

The person I spoke with who emailed me the docuyment did not make it seem as though they were giving me any special treatment nor was I asking for it. It was stated as if it were policy and when I heard that I asked for documentation since I heard different story from a differnt CSR.

I tracked the experiences of many users from the very begining on both phones to best determinewhich would meet my needs. It was hard to tell because of the individual phone variables.

I exchanged the 8100 today for a 815 and have till Saturday to make a final decision.

What I've been saying all along. The scumbags at VZW created the software problem like they did with the v8000, v710 and the v815. And it's my understanding, they did little to fix the problems. That costs money. After all the updates, they still had problems. VZW really needs to be put in their place. A class-action suit takes too long - years. With all their bulls**t, it seems more and more, they care little about their customers. Take their slogan 'we never stop working for you' and shove it.

My expectations for a $70.00 per month type plan is to have a phone that gets a great signal and great clarity. I can honestly say that my 8100 was not that great on that, today I also got the E815 and I have 4 bars where I only had 1-2 on my 8100. And It sounds like a landline.
I am not crazy of the size and look compared to the 8100 but, clean sound comes first..
It is a phone first, then a toy.. for when your stuck in an airport.
