When you exchange do you get a new phone or a refurbished one??

I'm planning to exchange mine today because of the volume issue and my pictures disappearing. Anybody know if they give a new phone or is it refurbished? I've powered off/on my phone and even took out/replaced the battery and the problems still happen. I don't want to reset the manufacturer settings though. I wonder if the rep at the store will do that and tell me it's fixed-I hope not.

I called a cust srvc rep this morning and they told me that usually you get a refurbished phone. However, if the phone is very new like the 8100 it's possible they don't even have any available refurbished ones so they may end up giving you a new one. But he said that the refurbished ones have had all the technical bugs worked out, which I don't know if I really believe. He suggested that I "reboot" the phone by taking out the battery while the phone is on, wait 10 seconds and put back the battery and turn on. I tried it and still the same problem. He also told me there is no software update as of yet (was sure there wouldn't be, but figure I'd check anyways) and also didn't have any bulletins on technical issues with the phone--obvious...

You'll get a refurbished phone. There have been so many returns, they must have plenty in stock. As far as fixing the bugs, I doubt that because there haven't been any software updates. And if they're fixing only the ones returned (ha-ha), sooner or later someone will catch on and do a legal. I believe there is already a class action suit or one in the process, from what I've read..

software update in three weeks to fix some bugs and enable mp3, just call your nearest service center then to see if they have it yet, as far as refurbished phones it depends on how long you have had it, if you are within your 15 day return they should give you a new phone!

Yep... Heard that one...Software update in 3 weeks...Heard that one for 8 months with my v710... And, the update fixed nothing... Actually made it more buggy.. 7 replacement v710's, and had to pay retail less $100 for this one... If only it had an MP3 player.. that was functional..

Where you hearing this from? As I stated before, like Mary, I really have not had a problem. I'm just pissed off for the rest of you. I hate big corporate bulls**t and VZW seems just great a dealing it out.

I went to the store this morning and got a brand new phone. Apparently the rep that helped me said this was the first return she had gotten. I was already past my 15 day mark by the way, so I wasn't sure if I'd get a refurbished one or a new one. Luckily, they had new ones (I guess they give the refurbished out first, but they didn't have any in the store). So I used it for several calls so far and have not have the volume issue. I will try taking some pics and see if they disappear too. And I restored my contacts with the backup assistant feature which was nice.

As you can see in my other posts the staff at my local store seemed to expect me to get a different phone today when they saw me come in with the 8100 box. I was past my 15 day mark and they were "ALMOST" telling me to try a different phone. Good luck guys...
