😕

I have not been a Moto fan and in some of these posts I have let you all know it. Though today being sick and tired of the 8100's issues I was having I took it back. I was on day 18 and they happily exchanged it for the E815. I do not want to go into a long list of pros and cons. However, for the few on the fence on what to do? as I was for 2 weeks. I will say that the call quality and clarity of the E815 is superior to the 8100. Their I said it,, ouch.. don't lash out at me. I was very skeptical but so far the 815 is really probably a better choice. I have 4 bars of signal in my brick house and the 8100 only gave me 1 sometimes 2.. enough said.

I was wrong to assume the E815 was junk.. I am just such a fan of LG's. I wan...

Dude, thanks for the info. You may have saved me (former LGer) and many others hours of frustration and wasted time. I know others may have gotten a good LG but sounds like a crap shoot this time around.

I had the 8100 for 13 days and returned it. I was tired of the problems, poor signal strength and battery life, my biggest issues. The volume issues were also a pain. I had the 8000 prior to the 8100 and loved it. I seriously considered going back to that but I got the 8100 as a special deal so to not lose an almost free phone I went ahead and got the 815 figuring I could always still go back to the 8000 if I didn't like the 815. I'm on day 4 of the 815 and I have not had one problem. I've already performed a few hacks to enable OBEX and copy to and from Transflash. I must say so far I am very happy with the 815. I do think the 8000 has a more solid feel than the 815 but the 815 still feels durable. The signal strength on the 815 is...

I have now used it half of the day, It is by far a better sounding phone, and the reception is quite possibly the best I have ever had. I am sorry to say that the 8100 is not up to LG's level in my eyes. sorry all.

Don't be sorry-- LG and Verizon dropped the ball on this one, I'm thinking of switching over to the Motorola also (esp after yesterday's fiasco with the speakerphone and not being able to hear).

I can't wait for the RAZR!! It looks very cool and from what I read it sounds like a winner! I am hoping a cdma RAZA is out SOON!!! It would be perfect with a working MP3 player.

They screwed up the last couple of phones. What guarantee any future phones will be any better? They're going to f**k with the software and any hi-tech phone and you're looking at problems.

I came to the same conclusion. After being an LG fan for many years, I just couldn't explain away the better Moto. I entered into this comparison with a bias toward the LG. I even tried really hard not to like the 815. But, after trying both, I could no longer deny it. I'm not claiming to be a Moto fan for life now, and may return to LG the next go-around. I just know that in this 8100 vs 815 match up, it wasn't really even close. The 815 was the better phone.

Well thats good that all you feel like you made the right choice.. we all know how it feels not getting your moneys worth

But I have the LG VX8100 and do not have any of the problems that everyone else is complaining about I guess it depends what area you live in for the reception part because 95% of the time i have full bars on my lg phone and only once experienced a problem with the speakerphone but was easily fixed by just lowering the volume of the phone

For that motorola kid.. we all appreciate your feelings for the e815 but do you really think thats necessary to put down other people who own this phone..cuz in my experience from reading all these forums I TRIED liking the e815 because everyone was complaining about these problems...

I love the LG phones that I've owned but with the last two (8000 and 8100) and the problems they had it was time to switch. The straw that broke the camels back was on Sunday when I needed the speaker phone function to work while driving in D.C (they have a law that states you have to be on a hands-free or headset or you get a ticket). I couldn't hear someone who called, even though I had full volume and the car radio was off, that was unacceptable.

I will probably go back to LG in the future at some point but for now I went with the 815.

Yeah if you have a problem like that it is unacceptable i dont know though there must have been a load of bad lg phones this time because my speakerphone is really loud

At least you don't have the same problem with the e815.. its always good to have an alternative

The Moto Forum is boring. All they ever talk about are the 815's features. This forum is a lot more fun.

I also havent had the problems that I hears others complain about on this site, cnet, and HF. My signal is great all the time without any drops, Sound in mine is fine. So I may have to go with the "bad batch" theory too. 😁

TP, I'm glad you are not having reception problems. Part of me would really like to try another 8100 and see if I just had a bad one. Based on what others have said I think your success is the minority though. I really did like the solid feel and I much prefer the vibrate and ring option verses the vibrate and then ring. Plus the vibrate on the Moto just plain sucks. I use vibrate everyday all day during the week and would much prefer the 8100 or most any LG for that matter over the Moto's. The last Moto I had with a decent vibrate was my StarTac.

I'm glad it's working for you and just wish it had worked for me as well.

Perhaps you may have found it to have a stronger signal, but I compared both phones several times in the store and the 815 sounded SERIOUSLY muffled compared to the 8100 --like someone's putting their hand over the caller's mouth!!
