Data Cable - USB

Looking for a Data Cable. Anybody using a Mac, help please. Do you need the software and driver or is just the cable OK? All the ones I have seen are $40 except on eBay. Some came without software. I know Mac usually has DRIVERS built-in. Thanx.

Help, please. Do I need the software? I found a couple. Some have a box attached and some are just cables. What is the difference? Thanx.
