A little bit of this, A little bit of that.

When information on this phone was released and phone scoop posted the specs, everyone on this forum got all antsy to get this phone.
Everyday there was a post "release date?" or "I talked to Verizon today and...." blah blah blah.
VZW never promised 512mb of memory or an MP3 player. Phone Scoop did.
VZW nor LG ever said that the phone wouldn't have some minor issues (which are being worked out) And what phone doesn't have any issues? Check all the forums and there are problems with every phone.
They probably released the phone early because VZW customer service was sick of people calling them and bugging them about the damn phone.
So My Point Is:
* Don't ask which phone you should get. Read the forums and decide which problems yo...

Well expressed, darlingnikki.
I love my 8100! Coming from a Nokia 3985, I am amazed by this phone's capability. Heck, even if I have to use the SD card for Mp3s, they still play great!!!!!

Darlingnikke - I love your outlook. I am very happy with my new 8100, my first LG following a series of motorolas, the last of which literally "came apart at the hinges"... more cracks than a plumber.
I am not, however, a computer genius, and could use a tiny bit of guidance re:mp3's and your suggestion to rename them: I copied over a few mp3's onto my mini sd chip as a test, and although I can see them taking up space on the chip's memory, I can't find a menu to play them. Help an idiot out... how do I access those after I change file name extensions?
Thanks for the help ! 🙄

Ok, me too on the help issue...I LOVE this phone...pesky issue of the ringtones and not being able to record my own voice tones and save as ringtones. Also, how do you rename the sounds you record? I get in to the rename area however, there is no option for symbols such as the .(dot) to change the file type. I am so clueless...if anyone knows how to do this, I will love you forever if you tell me....

MP3's:
In any browser window go Tools->Folder Options->View->and uncheck the box that says "hide extensions for know file types." Then go to your MP3 and click on it like you are changing the name and at the end of the title delete the .MP3 and replace it with .mid or .qcp. Add them to your miniSD card and play them thru "My Sounds". It's really easy! 😁

This was a very well thought out article. Right up until you stated:

"Because us LG'ers will be laughing at ya all in about 6 months when your phones fall apart at the hinges."

I realize you are grasping for straws in trying to feel good about the 8100. Such a desperate move on your part. But, whatever makes you feel better. You guys are embarrassing this former LG owner. You don't hear me slamming the 8100, even after I easily chose the 815 after I tried both.

I seriously doubt my 815 will disintegrate in 6 months. But, if it makes you feel better. Just keep on thinking that.

I'm not "grasping at straws" to feel good about the phone. I love the phone. And would recommend it to anyone. I'm just tired of Moto fans pushing the E815 on this forum and trying to make the 8100 sound horrible. It's not as bad as everyone keeps saying. Your just mad because your stuck with the Moto. Don't take it out on me. 😈

You should get off your high horse and open your mind. I have given both a try. I really really wanted the 8100 to work out for me but when I drop calls in my home and office and I have never had that problem with ANY other phone in these two places it doesn't cut it. If you live somewhere where the signal strength is very strong good for you then it may be good for you. My house is exactly 3.75 miles from my VZW tower and my office is a little over 4.5 miles. I should not have issues with my signal on my phone being so low that I drop calls on a daily basis, period. If they fixed the signal strength issue I could probably deal with the poor battery life because I did like everything else about the phone. As for the battery life, the ...

I am open minded. I'm in this forum to research things like adding MP3's (.qcp) and adding ringtones (with QPST).
The Moto E815'ers are like blah, blah I returned this, it sucks....blah blah.
Who cares? Good you don't have one anymore, enough said. Go share you CONTINUIOUS complaints on the E815 forum. (which you shouldn't even be worrying about the 8100 because you DON'T OWN one.) I'm sure they'll agree with you and give you mad love for your comments.
There are already plenty of posts about the cons of the 8100. We don't need anymore. * Go ahead and share your story, but quit repeating the same complaints OVER & OVER.
Go to your appropriate forum and have a wonderful day. (KiSSeS) 😈

First of all, I'm not a Moto fan. I've had LGs for the past 5 years. Second, not once have I ever slammed the 8100. Third, I'm not stuck with the E815. I chose it after trying it for 7 days. The other 7 days were spent with the 8100. After trying both, it was easy to see that the E815 was more suited for my needs.

Anyone who has not tried both phones cannot possibly give a fair assessment of comparison. The people who try to belittle either phone without actually trying both, are pretty much just "ru...

I did have both. I returned the E815 because it was cheap feeling and the phone was for more uptight boring people. And I guess I wasn't wrong about that, after all you own it.

So now you're lowering yourself to personal attacks. What you really mean is that the E815 is for mature adults. And once again, your desperation is evident. I guess I you feel bad too if I had exchanged a perfectly good phone for one that seems to have several issues. Fear not darling, we all make mistakes.

I still love my phone and yours still sucks.
No matter the maturity level.
Besides if you were so mature, you would be the bigger person and just ignore my posts.
Shows how smart you are. 😈

Part of this forum is sharing stories and experiences of what happened in our situations. I am sorry, for LG, that I had to return my phone as I loved it. I was afraid an update would be too far away.. Sounds like you have the problem with your decision not us. We are simply sharing thoughts and experiences..

I like LG's and will certainly own another one in the future and congratulations to you on getting a phone that actually works.

Since this was my 4TH LG phone -- I got tired of having to go back every 2 to 6 weeks because the phone would randomly start shutting down. I also grew tired of hearing static in the headset, dropped words and the phone not recognizing commands properly and this was after turning off features such as auto-volume and others.

As far as the Motorola falling apart in 6 months- doesn't matter to me since I'll have something newer by then anyway, perhaps another LG but for now- I have a phone that works right out of the box.

The key here is- IT WORKS RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!

I had an 8100 for 7 days and returned it. It had several of the issues mentioned in this forum, most notably the volume problem.

I reactivated my old phone. And now I'm waiting for the UPDATED 8100.

Obviously, I'm in no hurry to get the phone... I can wait.

I've looked at the e815 several times, but I just don't like the menus, and I don't the feel of it.

So, I really want the 8100 when it gets a little closer to that all-elusive "perfection."

And I want it to work RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

I don't want to have to rebuild it into a good phone by hacking and hacking!! 😁

E815 is superior in everyway to this phone; The reception is only so-sot for a $150. Phone, the speaker leaves allot to be desired and I won't even get into the software issues.

If the e815 is so superior, why am I less than 5 miles from a VZW and getting static and bad reception? Voice recognition was horrible (had to repeat it several times in order to find the correct name) and speaker phone, couldn't hardly hear it, sitting in my car with windows closed. You people just don't understand. Reception is based on the amount of phones being used at the particular moment they hit the tower. If not many are being used, than the reception is better. Granted, the Moto chipset is slightly better than LG's, but that has always been. I love LG, from TM510, VX6000, VX6100 and the VX8100. I'm willing to deal with a little less reception to get a better quality all around phone. Everybody I have ever spoken to has had problems...

I'm sorry you had problems with your 815. So far, mine has been flawless. The signal strength, the call quality, and especially the voice recognition is outstanding.

P.S. Sorry, but you are incorrect in your statement about reception and the number of users at any given time. I think maybe you're confusing it with bandwidth.

BTW, I have a degree in communications and did 8 years Army Signal Corp.
