Anyone have any information on how to use the power saver function on the phone. I have it set so the backlight turns off after a few seconds but the screen stays on for like a min. I have searched through the phone's options and no luck. If anyone has any information please let me know because the outside screen staying on for a minute is driving me crazy and draining my battery.

Are you sure you have the front screen set properly? Go to Menu, Settings & Tools, 3. Display, 2. Backlight, 2. Front Screen, and choose the setting you want.
If the light does not go out after the time you set it for, there is a problem with your phone. If the light goes out, but you are talking about the screen staying on, that's a different story. This type of screen does not draw that much from your battery if the light is off, so no need to worry about it. The screen will not shut off until the phone goes into "sleep" mode.

I recently changed the setting for the backlight on the the front screen to always off. Then when I had the phone closed, and the power saver turned off the screen, I couldn't get the screen to come back on when I pressed the buttons on the outside of the phone (I tried the ones on the front and sides). Do you know if this is normal? This is the first time I tried this since I exchanged the phone for another 8100 this weekend, so I was wondering if this is normal or a defect on my phone. On the old 8100 I always had the front screen backlight set for 7 seconds, and when it would go in sleep mode, I would press any button and the screen would come back on.
Also, do you know which is better on the battery--keeping the backlight off and p...

I know that some people on here have been using the "Power Saver Off" mode to keep the front screen on all the time, even with the backlight off. The power saver mode resets to "on", whenever you turn the phone off and on, so you would always have to manually change that setting after each cycling of the phone. Because of that hassle I see no reason to do it. I have my front screen set for 15 seconds on. I really don't think the front screen uses that much battery power, especially if you have the backlight set to shut off after 7-15 seconds.
As an experiment, I just turned my front screen setting to always off, and waited for the phone to go into sleep mode. Once it did, I could not get the screen to come back on, no matter which of...

Thanks for trying that out with your phone. Gives me some reassurance that it's a normal feature of the phone.
I plan to keep the backlight on for about 7 seconds and power saver on. Not a big deal to me that the screen turns off to save the battery. I have been experiencing poor battery life though. I think at max it's lasting 2 days w/o a charge. It's even worse when I start browsing the web or get it now. Luckily I charge it every night, but I think I will need to get a car charger.
Thanks again.

I don't know how much you talk, I average 60-70 minutes/day talk time, but I think 2 days is excellent from a standard battery, especially with color screen, browser, etc.

Dosn't it make sense that if you turn the front screen to "always off" that it would not come on, hence the term "ALWAYS OFF". Maybe I'm not completely understanding what your saying, but it seems like a no-brainer to me.

Well it's not actually the front screen that is "always off", it's the backlight setting. Same as on the main screen, the setting is for either 7, 15 or 30 sec or "always off". I figured the light would always be off on the front screen, but that it would still wake up after sleep mode when you press a button. But apprarently it doesn't. Hopes this clarifies what I was asking.
