Get It Now (bend over now)

Has anyone noticed that you have to now pay for any application on Get it Now? When I had the LG 6000 I don't recall having to pay for Modtones or any of the others. So in other words, if you want to buy a game or a ring tone, you have to pay them up front just for the right to pay a rediculous amount of money for say a 20 second ringtone that you don't even get the whole song for for $2.00. I've never really been involved with cell phones till I bought this one with so many more features than any other cell I've had. I know all cell companies take advantage of customers, but this is a whole new level with the crippling of the Mp3 and some BT features. I say flood verizonwireless.com with complaints, maybe they will change.

They are a company and all companies need to make a profit, otherwise they wouldn't be here. You have always had to pay for get-it-now apps! You can go to Modtones and look around for free, but if you want to get a ringtone, yes you have to pay!

When I had my LG6000 I didn't have to pay, and when I switched over to my Samsung a670 last November, I didn't have to pay. I also spoke to a VZ cust Serv regarding something else, but mentioned the Getit Now fees and she was unaware and said that on her cell she doesn't have to pay, and I said that was the case for me also when I had my LG6000, she said she still has that same cell also, so it may vary from cell to cell, but I am positive that while I had those 3 LG6000's (kept breaking) I never once paid for applications. Either way, it is a rip off as I know you will agree to that.

EXACTLY! Verizon isn't making you use their service. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

Do you both (gunny, mary) work for Verizon? I don't think there is anything wrong with pointing out the FACT that they charge for Get it Now for one cell and not the other. If you don't voice your opinion about something, then nothing will change. I like VZ and I think they have the best cell phones to offer and the service is about the best, but I think some of the things they do are unfair. To me this is like Blockbuster's $2.00 restocking fee that they charge you. It's just a way to get more money out of a customer. It's the principle. What's wrong with letting other people know? Maybe if there is a decline as a result of people complaing, they will offer it for free like they should. I think you both are a little bit defensive over what I...

Yeah, I've had a few phones (including the 6000) and I've always had to pay for Get It Now. There are some apps that offer a free demo, but that's about it.

This is America buddy...take your money somewhere else???

is that not a bit condescending? I never said Verizon was a bad company if you go back and read. I think their service is about the best, I mean who are they really competeing against anyway other than Cingular? And the cell phones for the most part are the best offered and the features as well, but they charge you for every little thing and I feel it is unneccessary for some of the applications. I still don't understand the taxes we have to pay on top of it all. Other than flirting with Mary why are you on this site if you don't own an LG?
