Can someone answer this or help?

a few areas i go to only have a strong sprint signal.
So, on my old lg 6000, i would go to menu->0 ->000000 and select "force mode"
then "pcs only"

is this possible on the 8100? I tried something
in the menu->0 to pcs only but then it said no service at all.

should i go back to the lg6000 or is there a way to do this on the 8100?

I would assume so, but just becase you get a sprint signal doesn't mean its available in Verizon PRL.

after menu oooooo in network select there is a setting called band preference, you might set that to pcs, but your phone will switch to pcs if your cdma signal isn't strong enough anyways so i don't really see why you would change it?

in a certain area of my town, the verizon gives 1 bar, just enough NOT to switch on its own. so the "force mode to pcs only" gave me a strong 5 bar signal.
Looks like its not the phone though. I switched back to the lg 6000 and now it also just says "searching for service". I also switched rate plans which may not let me roam but it's stil "americas choice plan" so who knows. Its an interesting problem. one of the vzn engineers is supposed to get back to me on this.
