Haha, why does the outside/inside screen look like an LG screen?

I think Verizon is trying to standardize the interface on all their phones. It's their [lousy] software!!! But at least the hardware is different!!!

Yes they are trying to get everyone using the same interface, i am not two excited about the 970, it is bigger than a lg 8000 and i got rid of my 8000 becasue i hated the size. YOu need a back pack to carry this thing☹️

I like the interface, but I thought the 8000 was too bulky too. I tried it for a couple of weeks and just couldn't handle it. I love the 8100 though.

When you look at the actual dimensions it is close in size. But amazing how a few millimeters can make a difference. The A970 seems much closer in size to the 8000 and I just thought the 8000 was too big.

I worry about the swivel screen on the a970. The more moving parts the better chance of having probs.Besides the 8100 suits my needs.

I notice that there are instructions for using the MP3 player in the 970 manual, including use of the front buttons.

Maybe VZW will enable them on the 8100, after all. Let's hope!!! 🀣

Great phone. So was the 8100. What makes you think that once VZW f***s with the software it will be any better than the 8100 & 815? If you really thing LG sold VZW a phone with all these problems, you're all loco. Don't you think they tested these phones. I have had Samsung's before and the signal strength was not the greatest. Wish you all luck if you think you're going to get a better phone than the 8100. The OBEX is disabled. MP3's, guess??? πŸ™„ πŸ™„

I don't know if I agree about the signal strength problem on Samsung's. Right now in our family on the family share plan we have a samsung a-670, an LG vx-8000 and a fairly new Moto e815. Even in weak signal areas all these phones are very similar in initiating and holding on to a call - the 8000 and 815 may be a "tiny" bit better than the 670 - however the a670 definitely has the best and most understandable voice clarity, followed by the 815 and then the 8000. All three have similar and plenty loud earpiece volume. Further, the best speakerphone is definitely the 8000 compared to the 815 (louder and clearer) - the main problem with the 670 has always been "no speakerphone". The various menus and contact storage methods is definitely 8000 /...

Looked at the manual. Same software as the 8100. Menus are the same. Is this a joke??

Ok, the last time I used a Samsung was about 2 years ago and unless since then they are greatly improved, they are equal with LG. I got the the same bad cell areas then as I did with my 6000. However, I am getting slightly better reception in those areas with the 8100, believe -it-or-not. It all depends how much VZW screws the software.
