8100 MODEM CONNECTION???
Could someone please walk me through setting up my laptop to connect to the internet through my phone i have the 8100 and i have the data cable thanks

The phones is not set up to allow you to do it. As a matter of fact, the VZW terms and conditions of the broadband access state that you are not allowed to use the phone and a data cable (or bluetooth) for internet use. You may only use mobile web (internet on your phone) for internet browsing. If they catch you using it as a modem they may cancel your service without notice. You must buy an aircard to use the broadband access on your laptop. I have heard that there is however a way to unlock the DUN on the phone, that is if you want to take the chance. Search the forums here on how to unlock the DUN.

Hey thats good info didn't know that. Just looked at my contract and it does say Mobile Office Kits, PC Cards, PDAs or other wireless modem devices may not be used for Internet access w/o a subscription to select VZAccess plans. Though I must say I have used my phone as a modem but only to test it out to see if it actually worked. Though I have read where others have said they have been doing so for years. So apparently its not a big issue, or has there been a change in climate?

they cant tell or catch you. i have wireless modem in laptop and connect through bluetooth using xp.
1. go to seup wireless connection and select bluetooth.
2. setup your phone to find device and at the same time of running your wizard in windows, sync your phone. you may have to try several times as i did to sync at the right time, and when it finds one another then your set. you can also use your phone to make the calls through your laptop as well.

you cant get 1 xrtt on this phone the only net that works on it is the moble web and that is on the phone only, you can not conect it to a modum or use it as one, Try the lg 6100 if you are using your phone as a modum.

Trust me you can use the VX8100 as a modem. I have used it as one myself. If you search this forum you will find out someone provided the instructions to do so and it works. Try typing modem in the search box atop the page.
