HAS ANYONE GOTTEN THE UPDATE YET?
I checked with my VZW store and its not here in VA. Tech says the update wasn't on the current approved device list either, but she did say that they usually get the list in on Monday evenings. 😛

hey buddy where in pittsburgh are you from? i talked to a techie on their hot line and he said that you don't even have to go to the store for the update.. that they do it through their computer and all you have to do is reset your phone by dialing *228 and #1 and it will do it itself.

I called the store in Austin, TX and not only do they not have the update, but they also don't have the update listed as even coming out. I wonder if/why people would post lies here about bogus updates.

There were no lies. The update which is T81VZV04 is on the approved device list in Infocenter. At least here in PNW it is.

I work for Verizon and I know for a fact that it is on the approved device list. But so is the new LG VX-5200 and the Samsung a970 and you don't see them out yet. Just because it's on the list doesn't mean it's out yet.

Just called Overland Park, KS store. Tech has not received notification of update yet.

3 stores told me sometime this week. Won't know till they get the computers in. I believe these stores all get deliveries either Wed or Fri.

This past Friday I called *611 and asked about the updates. Dude on the phone said he spoke to a tech (made me wait several minutes - it's all good) and that there is an update which is to address the MP3 player (what else - I didn't ask). This update is supposed to be for both the 8100 and the 815. However, he gave me no date when this will be available. I asked if it will be a subscription service (MOD), he didn't know. We spoke and he has the 815 and knows all about Phone Scoop - pretty cool he did! He said I should look up some new Samsung phone that will be coming out through Verizon (don't care). Also, he said owners will be notified of an upgrade, either on their paperless bill (if registered) or on their paper bill.

The samsung phone was going to be pretty nice with lots of options including the fact that it is a smart phone running windows. That doesn't matter now because verizon cancelled the phone and wont be getting it.

Which Samsung is he talking about? I would have guessed the sch-a950. It's basically the same as the 8100, but has an Ipod type scroll wheel, uses transflash instead of mini SD, and has no antenna. I measured it to be about 3.54" in length, which is about the same as the 8100 (3.57").
