Okay, so how would I transfer music files to my phone (when I get the card) from my computer without using all the Bit-whatever-it-is?

I was looking at the card reader, but it said "to transfer files TO your computer". Will it transfer FROM the computer to the card? Thanks!

You can get a card reader at Circuit City for $20.00 and it comes w/ a mail in $20.00 rebate they are on sell this week. You definately need the reader eventhough you can transfer the files through Bitpim w/o one its dreadfully slow doing so. you transfer the files just like you would on your CPU click n drag from one folder to the other.

shademand,
You really sound like you know what you are talking about. This is all totally new to me. I am going to get my 8100 next week and am still very confused with what is the easiest way to put songs (MP3)on my 8100. I know I need a card. That's about where I hit the wall. Sorry. Do I need a card reader (whatever that is) how about a data cable? Will a data cable do both load songs/vidios and let me sync with outlook? A lot of questions for you. Thank you in advance. 🙂

Hi Piggys....
I use the SanDisk SDDR-99 to both read and write on the mini sd. Works great with the adapter that comes with the card. No problems at all. Was purchased at Circuit City. I do not use a data cable. I have just decided I don't want to go that direction.

I am in a similar boat.
I just got the 8100 and bought a mini SD card and can put stuff on it. But then what? I don't the update? Whats the point of having the mini SD card? What can I do pre-update since the VSW morons in Boston don't seem to know what Im talking about.
Thanks,

You can move the mp3's into the sound folder of your phone by renaming you files to.mid but make sure the file name on your pc is not to long.

You can transfer movies to your phone. Depending on the size of your card you may also add TV shows that you like. I just added "Thunderball" Bond.........James Bond!
