I got the update yesterday and the mp3 player is great. My dilemma is with my ringtones. I have noticed that my ringtones will periodically disappear. Instead of ringing their will be static. I reset the phone and the problem was fixed but it is still happening occasionally. Even the VZW default tones were just static when I went to my_ringtones and just sampled them. I am going to see if reassigning the ringtones to the contacts will solve the problem. Has anyone else had this problem?.
Side note. I AM NOT GIVING BACK MY UPDATE!!!! 😁

The Static ring tone issue is a relatively uncommon but known issue with some LG phones. have the software update repeated or replace the phone under warranty. that is not normal.

Thanx I will take care of it tomorrow.

I took the phonw back to a different store to be flashed and was fine....FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR!! So I returned to the store and this time swapped the phone out for a new one and then had that one flashed. A day later I had the same problem. Static instead of ringtones. Am I alone in this?

How long did it take to flash? If done correctly, should take about 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours. I believe, some stores are just overwriting instead of completely replacing. I was told they have different codes for flashing, and depending on which code they download with, is how they do it. Told this by a VZW tech. 😢

Took them maybe 15 mins. Thanks I will bring that up when go to the store in an hour. Will let you know what happens.

wwhizzard -- did you happen to see one of the previous posts about this problem? Someone else mentioned their upgrade taking less than 1.5 - 2 hours. Turns out the tech who upgraded them just tried to overwrite the old software, and it didn't work properly. Apparently this upgrade requires the tech completely erase your phone's current software and then put on the upgrade. Someone correct me if this is wrong, but that's what I took from the posts.

The upgrade does not erase your data because when you view the phone's file system through Bitpim, you can see all four versions with their install dates. This is how the Tech knows if you tampered with the phone because the .dat file date should match the date of your initial flash date or the version 04 update. So if your .dat file date is different from either one of those dates they will certainly tell you.

Tech I dealt with at the store today said that There is only ONE way to flash the phone. He said that the phone does not take 2 hrs unless they are REALLY busy or their is an enormous amount of data on the phone. I dont think everything is erased either because I looked in "Favorites" section on the Mobile Web and all 13 of mine were still there. By the way so far so good with this flash. Tech tried to say it was the card I bought (PQI 256mb) I said nope because I had the card in the phone for a week and a half before I even got the flash and no problems.

You can't strip the phone and replace the software in 45 min. There is more then one set of codes for downloading. I had mine re-done on Sat, at 9:00. Nobody in store when I walked in and nobody else ahead of me in tech support. This was 3rd tech to tell me, when busy, they can do an 'over-write' which takes appx a 1/2 hour. That is why there are more than one set of codes to download with. By the way, it blew out my Scala 500, which won't stay connected. I bought a BT250v and HS850, which don't lose the connection. 🙄 🙄 🙄
