Anyone having problems w/service after hooking up phone to bitpim??
I don't know if it's a coincidence or what, but twice now after I've connected my phone to bitpim (the 7.35 version), I have had trouble using the phone afterwards.
On Wed night I used it and I got no service Thursday morning on my phone. I went to make a call and it just sat there saying "calling" but no ring no tone nothing through the earpiece, as if the phone was off, and it never connected. Same thing happened last night. I used bitpim and afterwards I couldn't use my phone at all. I tried the web and the same thing. I got the message "call failed" when I went to make calls (after sitting there "calling" without any sounds or connection.
And I noticed right after using bitpim, the "verizon wireless" banner would disappear...

Nope, haven't had any problems. Try *228 update it then see what it does. Perhaps they are working on a tower in your area as well. I know that when these companies merge the lines get all screwed up. Sprint & Nextel just did that and my phone was out of whack for a few days.

Just so strange that other cell phone in the house works but no the 8100. Anyone ever experienced the "verizon banner" disappearing along w/the "1x" symbol? I figure it just means there's no service, but I've just never seen the banner disapper before. It disappeared on both the front and main screens.

I did reboot my phone the first time it happened and it was fine afterwards. When I made an outgoing call, it did not seem like the call was connecting because I have the service alerts set up to make a tone when the call connects and I never heard the tone. But later the person I was calling said that they saw my number come up on their caller id but there was no sound on the line. But the problems that I had this week are more strange because I do not think they are going through at all and the reboot doesn't fix the problem. It's crazy, I really like this phone but I am hoping I don't have to exchange it again. This is already my 2nd phone. I am hoping it doesn't have anything to do w/the bitpim.
