970 vs. 8100...

I saw and touched the A970 today at about 12 noon at the BestBuy store in Westbury, NY.

I did not see it in operation... the sales rep. said the AC adapter wasn't available and the battery had run down.

He said they have 2 in stock, and the price is $350 (not sure about rebates).

Anyway, I'm a little leery about the swivel screen... it seemed a little wobbly.

The quality of the phone itself looked and felt OK, but NOT as good as the 8100. The 8100 felt SOLID in comparison!!

When the Verizon stores have the 970, I may give it a try before I actually get the 8100.

Then I'll make my final decision on this whole issue!!

One other thing, the 970 was positioned right next to the Motorola 815. The 815 appeared LARGER than the 970. So size shouldn't be an issue for the Samsung.

Some people have complained about the 970 being too big, but when you see it, it doesn't look or feel any bigger than the 8100!!

Anyway, who knows what issues the 970 will have!!??

yeah some guy posted pics on hofo...the a970 is as tall as the 815, minus the 815 antenna, so with the antenna the 815 is bigger. Also it seemed thinner than the 815. Obviously real life comparison is needed to judge that.

Interesting though, I was considering this phone as well, but I keep reading that the swivel screen effects the way the phone is flipped open. Like, you cant flip it open just with one hand with your thumb because it swivel makes it too wobbly. I couldn't deal with that personally. And given Samsungs camera quality in the past, im banking LG's 1.3 mp will hold up against it. The optical zoom however is attractive on the 970. Also, it uses transflash, which to my knowledge (could be wrong) only goes up to 256 mb cards at...
