Okay guys, question: After VZW screws around with the software to meet their desires, what makes you think it will be any better than the 8100, the 710 and the 815? The format for their software seems to be the same on all their phones, from what I've seen. They will disable the same features as the 8100 and look what that did. 😲 😲 😲

So I've never owned a Samsung before but I hear they are good phones. From the specs, I like the 2mp camera and the swivel screen, and it seems to have good battery life. Bad: Bigger and heavier than the 8100, even bigger than the 8000! I also don't like that it uses transflash/micro sd. It's pricier than the mini sd, but maybe by the time the A970 comes out it will go down in price. I wonder if it will be out before the end of the Sept. My 90 days with the 8100 will be up mid-Oct so if I have any more problems w/it in that time, maybe I will still see what the A970 is like.

Well I am on my 4th 8100. Cust srvc told me that if within 90 days I have 3 exchanges, I am entitled to switch to a comparably-priced (retail) model. I figure I am already entitled but I am trying to stick it out w/the 8100 for now. So far no problems since I exchanged on Sunday. I don't have the update yet either, wondering if I want to even get it w/all the problems I'm hearing about.

Heres the deal. Got ANOTHER 8100(3rd since Fri). Exchanged the charger also but the phone STILL $hit the bed. I think it is the SDcard. So I am buying a new one next week(Sandisk this time). I have to take this phone back today and although I will get the update I will NOT use this card again(PQI 256mb). I wont bother with the Mp3 player until then also. Oh yeah this phone came out the box with a blown speaker. I didnt realize it till I got home.
