🤣
If you use DUN (BT or Cable) after the update to V.4 you won't be able to any more!
So it MP3 player or Dun.
Make you choice!

I don't know.... I used the USB Cable to connect to the internet using DUN. i double click on my connection on my desktop, I notice on the phone it says "data call" then after connected and usr/pass are verified. on the phone the screen show little Tx and Rx bars. computer says connects at 115K
And yes I have the latest software update.

i am sorry it will probably come across as a stupid question but what is a DUN?????????????
...
When u use the phone to connect ur laptop to the internet is that a free service or do u need to pay for a data plan or something
...
It depends! Are you planning on using it via bluetooth, cable, 14.4kps, NationalAccess, Broadband Access?
...
Well what i thought was that u hook up ur cellphone to the laptop via usb cable and can use the phone to access the interent on ur laptop and view such web pages as www.yahoo.com or google.com. If this is what the DUN system does is it a Pay feature, does it only use airtime or is it some kinda glitch/hack that we can use it and access the interent on the laptop for free????

In order to get the unlimited, high speed service it is $79.99 per month! If you don't mind the very slow speed of 14.4k, you can connect without the additional monthly fee, but it uses your airtime. There are limited data packages available too, but that could be more expensive than the unlimited if you go over your allowed MB downloaded. I had a "push to talk" phone a couple of years ago that connected at the higher speed (up to 144k) without the data pkg, but that was because the phone was designed to always use the high speed network, because of the way the push to talk service worked. I am thinking that the vcast phones may cont nect at the higher speed too because of the vcast service on the phone, but definately would not suggest ...

you can get high speed through your phone modem without signning up for a data pack, the phone will connect to the highest sped and just use your minutes, my understanding is the speed is limited and you can't get true broadband becaseu of it, but it will be much faster tham 14.4 if avalable in your area, you should be getting about 120kb and up

I may be being dense, but I am confused after reading all of the post-update DUN threads!! Some people are claiming they are getting free broadband, others say you can connect, but only at 14.4 - What's the truth??!! 😕
From what I can tell, in the v4 update verizon has disabled the ability to connect to the net via Bluetooth DUN with this phone - period. I am trying to use Bluetooth DUN to connect from my laptop and my PocketPC. I was able to do it pre-update (by dialing #777, username="cell#@vzw3g.com", password="vzw"). This is no longer working. And yes, I have searched the threads for an answer, Bluetooth DUN is enabled on the phone and it is properly paired to my laptop - I can see the service, connect as a modem and dial #777, ...

Robert,
I am in the very same shoes as you are RIGHT NOW. I spent two hours with a Verizon guy this morning in a Verizon office. He is great and really worked at it but we could not get it to work! Can I call you with some questions and some answers? Please advise.
...
Lax,
I'd be happy to exchange ideas. Email me your phone # and I'll give you a call.

hey rob,
where you able to fix 'bt' dun w/ the v4 update? i have the exact same problem. i just got the phone in the mail and it came with the v4 update pre-installed.
the only info i can add is that i get the same error message "incorrect username/password response" wether i use 'bt' to connect or the 'data cable' to connect.
tia,
reuben.

Reuben,
My BT Dun has not worked since I got the v4 update. It worked fine before. I am still able to connect to the DUN service on the phone, but I can no longer logon - I get the same "username/password is incorrect" message. I don't have a cable, so I have not been able to try that.
Does anyone know if it would be possible to dial up a different ISP to get a connection? I have tried that in the past with no luck.

hey rob...
like i said i have the same prob.
i do have some new info though. if i switch over to the old '1x' network (disabling EVDO) i can connect via bluetooth/cable to DUN.
i am now going to try to add the vcast service and see if that helps connecting to DUN via EVDO.
peace, reuben.

I wish I read this forum before I updated... I am so upset that I updated the phone, my DUN does not work and I really need it. I am trying to find someone who has old version and switch it with them. anyone in Brooklyn wanna trade older version of the phone for the updated?
...
DUN does work with V04 update.... I got the update and was still able to use my USB cord to access the EVDO network for FREEEEEEEE.
...
I spoke to VZW and they said none of the Vcast phones can use #777 as access number to get EVDO network... what did you do?
...
get a VZW data connectivity kit for the LG 7000 and connect ur phone by using the USB cord that came with the package follow load software, follow instructions and ur DONE 😈 😈
...
go to the service menu to switch your DUN on.
