Does anyone know the unlock code for Verizon LG phones so they can be used on another carrier? Since I upgraded to the 8100, my brother wants my 6000 but he's locked into a contract w/ another carrier.
Can anyone help?

Putting the phone in the microwave for 30 seconds will short out the security code and allow it to be used on T-Moble, Cingular or AT&T.
🙄
ech, I used a smiley

The only other code you could be talking about is the 4 digit one it asked for sometimes. It is the last 4 digits of the phone #

The 4-digit code is the security code and that is not the one I am talking about. When you purchase a phone that carrier has it locked into their network. There is a code to unlock the phone to allow it to be used on another network. This is what I am looking for. But thanks anyway.

There is no such code for CDMA phones without extensive reprograming/hacking beyond the scope of most people. You're thinking of GSM phones where you can get an unlock code after your contract expires.
Simply put, you can't do what you are asking.

Actually, the code does exist, it's called the SPC, or Service Provisioning Code. For most Verizon phones, it is "000000"
That is the code that you must enter after pressing menu+0 to "unlock" the "hidden" menu.
Verizon's are usually 6 0's, however, most other carriers lock their phones with a code other than 000000. Also, to complicate the matter, sometimes you get past the first code only to find a seccond one that is speciffic to the ESN.
The phone would only work on other CDMA networks, so keep that in mind. No GSM/TDMA/iDEN.
Hope that helps.

I knew about the SPC code but I didnt think that's what "they" were talking about. "They" also said that once it is unlocked it could be set up on other networks. I did notice in the service section there is an area to set the phone to cdma, tda, or gps. I was always under the impression that cdma's could not be used on any other network.

They cannot be used on other networks. Carriers will deny this to the bitter end, but you theoretically should be able to use the 8100 on Verizon, Sprint, Cricket, Us Cellular, Altel and many other smaller regional carriers.
Wheather or not they will allow you to is annother question all together.

OOPS,... I need to specify,...
No other protocols, GSM, TDMA, but yes on other CDMA's, technically speaking......
...
Why dont you go to wirelessimports.com and go to the tab on the top of the screen that says "unlocking" they will do it for you if you contact them.
...
Obviously, if it is possible to use a Verizon phone on another network, then the place where your getting new service would be able to do that for you, if even possible.
...
Sometimes they don't care for the software that is in it though,... so the phone may technically function on their network, but they have the option to simply not allow it. Watch out for that too.

i used to slap sprint and alltel phones on verizon prepaid all the time, the downfall of messing with that stuf to jimmy rig it to work on another carrier's network is that you get minimal fuctionality and often limited towers. Per example when i would put a alltel phone on our prepaid they would only work on home only and would not allow roaming and of course none of them would ota to update the prl's in the phone, so those users could only use those in the local market since the roaming list was not loaded in, main reason i would only do it on prepaid(cause who cares about prepaid) i would imagine if you got the 8100 to work on us cellular or something like that you would run into similar problems, the phone would probably roam in areas it...
