Trouble with ringtones after update!

Has anybody else lost the ability to play mp3's as ringtones after they received the update??

I used bitpim to load the mp3's as ringtones with my mini sd card with no problems. Then I got the update two day's ago and lost the ability to play the ringtones. I noticed that the icon that preceded the ring changed to a gold bell and square, same as the preloaded ringtones...just gold. Checked the info of the files and they show Byte. On bitpim it shows that there is data there. They play on the mp3 player but not as ringtones. Can anyone help??

I've got a simular problem. After V7 upgrade I use BitPim to add ringtones back into the Brew folder, they work fine until the phone is turned off and then they are gone. I've searched these forum (and Howard Forums) for a solution. Anybody?

After you add the ringers to the phone via bitpim, while it's still hooked up to your pc, reboot it via bitpim. Right click anywhere in the folder where you add your ringers, but not on an actual file. The reboot phone option will be in the window that pops up. It's not in any of the menu's at the top of the screen.

Anyway reboot the phone, let it power up and go back to being ready to be used, then unhook it from the computer. This is the only way I've found to keep things from being deleted.

Hope this helps,

I am considering buying this phone - BUT I found on the verizon site that the MP3 player is replaced by Vcast - in the software update. This sounds like a bad deal - that forces you to use their Vcast software. They do give detailed instructions to convert existing MP3s to Windows Media format - BUT WHY should you have to do that.

from verizon FAQs:

AND can you use the resulting WMA files be used as rintones?

It's false....I'm a tech. It doesn't remove the mp3 player. Look around on the forums. It turns it off. All you have to do is turn it back on. And as far as ringtones go, even if the mp3 player is turned off, you can still use 30 second mp3 ringtones. I had an lg 6100 before this phone, which doesn't have an mp3 player at all. I had mp3 ringtones on that phone that worked fine.

Like i posted in the other thread on here, just because the phone will have this Vcast MOD, doesn't mean you have to use it. There are always ways around things, just have to be willing to put forth the effort to figure them out. Or at the least the effort to read the forums to see how someone else did it.

Hope this helps!
