Back goes the beautifully made 8100 because of ZERO reception

After 5 bad E815's I got an 8100 which is built SO MUCH better than the 815, but what good is it if I can't make or receive a call.
Missed 3 calls today, dropped 7 calls. Has latest software if that matters any.

Hmm, Sounds to me like a bad phone, I have had my 8100 since the day it was released, no volume bug, never missed a call, never dropped even one call either b4 or after the softward update. I suggest you FRU the **** out of it! -Peas đŸ˜ĸ

I'm bummed. It's a day old so it will be a DOA not a FRU. But even the store 8100 had only 1-2 bars max and the 815 next to it was pegged with 5 bars. Hell even the ultra crappy v276 had 5 bars.
Also the Lg 5200 and 3300?? had no signal.

I think I'm going to buy the CDMA Razr from wireless imports for $699 and give it a shot.

I know the 815 generally does get better reception than most phones, but don't forget the 8100 runs on a 4 bar scale while the Moto's run on a 6 bar scale. Still hats off to the 815 because that only makes up part of the difference.

I do wish LG would change the firmware on the 8100 to do 6 bars on the reception, probably won't happen even though the 6100 is on 6 scale...

Thanks. I thought the 815 was 5 bar scale.
Anyway I took some advice from the Howard forums and if you press menu>0000000>2>1>scroll down to HDR items and look at Rx Power. From what I understand it should be in the -100 range + or - 1.
That is the true measure.

Did anybody else's phone freeze up after going into that menu? I had to take out the battery and reboot. I was getting beteen -83 and -72 within a few minutes. I'm wondering what those #'s mean too.

I'm sitting in my office at present, not near any windows. My phone is currently fluctuating between 1 -2 bars -- once in awhile I'll get 3 in here. The Rx power reading you refer to is -96, and has gone up and down from -92 to -97 in the past couple of minutes. What exactly does this mean? If there is a good explanation on HoFo, could you please provide a link?

Thanks.

Actually I screwed up. Below -100 is good, anything -101 and above is not.

Mine is -102+ consistently.
