Verizon's Case May Be Bulky and Ugly, but . . . .

I just dropped (gasp 😲 😲 ) my 8100 in the parking lot. Thankfully, it landed on the back, which is covered by the case. It bounced a bit when it hit the ground. No scratches, no dents, no malfunctions at all!
Looks aren't everything, eh?

I do have to agree that case is ugly and bulky. I bought it and just didn't like how it looked at all so I returned it. And I don't like that it's 2 pieces that snap together. And when I would flip the phone open it felt like the back cover was going to slide right off. I did unfortunately drop the phone once but without the case and it did suffer a couple of minor scratches on the front. I got over it in a couple of days. I am waiting for a nicer case that will stay on the phone while in use--I don't like those pouches--kind of defeats the purpose because I would tend to drop when I'm using it not while it's in its case in my pocket.

I'd advise using a great deal of care with this phone if you don't have a case on it. I bought mine and kept it without a case in my pocket. Just had some change in there with it. 2 days after I got it, I found a HUGE and DEEP scratch right across the time on the front screen. Apparently the material used to make those screens is very fragile (purely genius). Also, the phone fell on the ground one time and it apparently hit on the antenna. The antenna is all chewed up looking from that ONE incident. ****ty construction over all.

I would NEVER have a phone w/o a case. Learned my lesson 5 phones ago. Yes the case makes the phone bulkier but I prefer to be practical than to be a fashion fiend. 😛

I just treat my cell phones like the expensive pieces of electronics they are and don't drop them. It's free and doesn't effect how the phone looks.

I had an I500 ($450) for a year and a half. Other than the battery tab being broken and some of the paint being worn off the battery, it could pass for brand new. If I put the stock faceplate back on my 7000 you wouldn't know it from a phone out of the distribution center.

My 8100, has worn the paint off the nubs on the battery door. I keep it in my pocket.

How can you drop a phone that you're talking on? If you try to hold it between your head and shoulder, you're an idiot and asking for it to hit the ground. That's the only thing I miss about older phones, the full on handset you go...

Ummm...so you have never dropped anything by mistake before in your life? Do you have rubber grips on your fingers? And it is in your pocket 24/7? Even when your asleep? So no one has ever bumped into you and made you drop something in your hand?

The point of this is...yes I treat my phone like gold...BUT accidents happen...which is the point of this entire thread I believe...use the leather case...for those accidents...unless you are like Vatothe0 here and are accident-proof

I'm only accident proof when it comes to expensive things. Unless Warren Sapp or Ray Lewis "bumps" into you while you're on the phone, I'm not sure how you would drop your phone this way. I've also NEVER been in a car accident my fault or not as well though.

My i500 had a cradle to be in while I slept and my 7000 and 8100 sit on a table next to my alarm clock while charging so they're safe. I had a leather case that came with the i500 but stopped using at after a week or so. I didn't need it then, and never did after.

Unfortunately accidents are just that--accidents--you can't always control them. It would be nice if we could just be extra careful when dealing with expensive things--wouldn't that make life nice. I would say 9 times out of 10 when I have dropped my phone it has not been when I was talking on it--it is usually when I get out of the car and don't realize that I had the phone in my lap something just as dumb. But I do try to be careful with my phone--especially because this is probably the coolest phone I've ever had before. I do need a case for the phone but I just don't like the verizon one. I'm still waiting for another one to come out...until then I will just have to be extra careful.
