Play your 8100 MP3s on car stereos

I had an old "cassette adapter" that I used years ago to hook up a portable CD to play through my car.

I bought a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter at Radio Shack for $2.99 and hooked up to my 8100 and guess what? Stereo sound from my 8100 mp3's over my car stereo. It rocks!

Also - you can hear incoming calls over your stereo, even movies, etc.

8100 4-ever!

should be able to use an fm modulator( i think that is what it is called?) You just plug it into the headphone jack and turn your steeo to a certain channel to pick it up.

I can assure you that the Radio Shack adapter does not play stereo. Does anyone know of an adapter that does output stereo?

I know that the ROKR comes shipped with the adapter. Maybe you can go to Cingular and buy the adapter seperately.

Bought the adapter from the Cingular site. Good call-thanks! And by the way, I have the FM modulator set up in my car, works great with my iPod and should work fine with the ROKR adapter and my phone.

Glad to assist. Hey let us know how the phone sounds when playing a song and when you make calls through the car stereo.

Will do regarding playing songs. I should have that adapter in the next few days. The Radio Shack one was a piece of crap. I didn't even think about placing calls through the stereo-I guess that might work with the speakerphone setting on, or the lid open? I'll give it a try.

Did he have the speakerphone on and the lid open, or did he otherwise have some other sort of microphone in the car?

Take a peek at CNET.com. They have articles about how this done using the iPod. I am assuming it would be the same principle.

i tried to hook it to my car using a fm modulator, it does work but the music has some static, i would recommend the old style cassete adapter, might be clearer. If you do want the adapter from Radio Shack you want the Stereo-Stereo model#274-373 try it.
