I'm thinking about getting this phone for my wife... and getting the Samsung 970 for myself. In the meantime, I'll get to use the 8100 until I get the 970. Questions... now that the MP3 player is accessible, what differs this from the E815? What makes this better? Also, I've read about the BitPim 0.7.35, but I'm not sure what the purpose of this is. Is this a way to get around Verizon's crippling of BT? Please explain the purpose of using it. Thanks in advance.

I don't have the 815, but from what I've heard the 815 is easier to hack into and manipulate. Personally I went with the 8100 because the 815 felt like cheap plastic. The reception for me is awesome...I've never dropped or missed a call with this phone in the past few months. The Mp3 player is bad a## now that it works and especially since they activated the front buttons. Uh, bitpim is a program that allows you to manipulate your phone. You can search other threads and find out alot about this one. You just hook your phone to your comp with a data cable (or BT i think, not sure) and you can move files around and move files to/from computer.

Thanks a lot. How is the camera? I've read less than stellar comments on this and other forums. Has anybody used a stereo BT headset? The one from Motorola looks cool... I wonder if it crackles or sounds thin? Anyone have any experience with it or others?

I didn't like the feel of the 815 when I looked at it. The keypad was more comfortable and the menu was better on the LG. I love the mp3 on the LG! It has an equalizer built in and you can go from concert hall to rock to pop to jazz, etc. The graphic equalizer is cool to look at (from main lcd or external). I have a wired Jabra stearo headset and BOY, does it sound awesome! Not bad sound from the speakers either, plus in stereo.
I like the camera. Very good and you can zoom in on the picture after you take it too! I didn't know phones could do that. My pictures came out good. Depends on how you use it. Hope this helps.

KLH,
The camera is ok. Pretty good actually. I mean it does what it's supposed to do. However, I wouldn't depend on any of these phones to be my source of pics to keep for a lifetime.

As for the bluetooth, I just got one off ebay, so I can't give you any reviews. However, there are tons of reviews on different sets within the forum. I used these posts as a "buying guide" myself. The forum hasn't really agreed on THE PERFECT set. From what I've read it's coming down to: fit/comfort, volume, and sound quality. Several folks have commented on trying out 2 or 3 different ones. From what I've seen it's really coming down to the individual. For instance, I wear glasses (several different styles
) and I have big ears, so a set with...

Thanks... good stuff. I think the 8100 will fit the bill. BTW, can you listen to MP3s while having the phone function turned off (so one can use it while on an airplane)?
