Ok, I have a bitpim question. I have successfully put ringtones on my phone using the bluetooth method I found on Howard Forums:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=686076 »

BUT, I have a question on the part where it starts to talk about locations of files:

***Here are the locations for important files:
\Brew\16452\ --- All uploads go somewhere in here.
mf --- My Flix
mp --- My Pix
ms --- My Sounds
lk\mr --- My Ringtones

\dload\ --- This contains information about flix/pix/sounds/ringtones
There will be a files very suggestively named, such as: my_ringtone.dat and my_ringtonesize.dat. These files contain lists of the ringtones, so they need to be updated. The phone will create new files if you delete the old ones, ...

I assume you are using bitpim version 7.34 which was made for the 8000. I did use that for a few weeks until I discovered version 7.35 which is specifically made for the 8100. I use a data cable, not bluetooth, so I'm sure there are some differences in setting it up. But the 7.35 is much easier to use, and you simply drag and drop files and don't need to delete the my_ringtone.dat files etc. Hope this helps.

Actually, I am using 7.35, but went by these instructions. I was even able to choose the 8100 on there. So, I guess I am okay.

Mary,

Like I have told you before, stay out of the file systems tab, this is what you were worried about before. This file system is where the hacking takes place. If you change something in this section you could render your phone useless. Alson the HoJo write up you are looking at is pre version 4.

Oh, I didn't mess with that at all. I was just reading back through those directions and wondered what that was all about. I used those directions, somewhat, but figured the rest out on my own and just transferred a few ring tones and that was it.
