Hello,

I've had the 8100 for a few months and this problem persists. Its workable, it just gets annoying sometimes.

I'm trying to decide if getting the phone replaced (I have the insurance) would fix the problem.

No sure. A lot of people complain about it, but mine doesn't have it, neither do all 6 of my friends and family who have this phone.

I don't have the problem, as I said earlier, but wanted to mention that long ago when this was first brought up it was suggested to turn auto volume off, so they have already tried that to no avail.

Wow! That's so weird. Just the other day i called the State Police (about a disabled vehicle). My phone's earpiece volume was on High and i seriously could not hear him. I tried moving the phone around on my ear and nothing helped. I mean, I could hear a voice speaking - that's the only way I knew someone answered the phone. He asked me a question and I had to ask him to repeat it. Then, I heard the word "mile marker" so I had to GUESS what he asked.

ARGHHH...

My phone def has a volume problem, and it's not related to reception, area etc. I leave work at the same time and on the same route most days, and am on the phone in the same areas. Sometimes there is fluctuating volume, sometimes not. When I use a corded headset, same thing. More often than not, the volume is very low. Big problem for an otherwise good phone.

Yes, me too. But I don't use Bluetooth. Why couldn't we have gotten one of the phones that works?

I also have a volume prob. With auto volume on and off. also with the use of a hands free stereo headset plugged into the 2.5 jack. I love the phone otherwise, but my vx 4400 was better with earpiece volume. sad isnt it? also got the new software update. mp3 player with 1 Gig mini sd card is awesome!
