Need Help Managing Music Files

InsuranceMan

I have no problems putting music or video files on a miniSD to use in my phone. I have been using CDex to rip CD's onto my computer and transfer the mp3 files to my miniSD via a card reader.

I also recently purchased an Ipod, and have Itunes software on my computer. I also have no problems there, getting CD's into my computer through Itunes, and putting them on the Ipod.

My question is about what I can't figure out. What I can't seem to manage, is getting files back and forth between the two. I have created two separate and distinct music libraries on my computer. One is the mp3 files from CDex, and the other is the ACC files created by Itunes.

How can I avoid this duplication? I would like to be able to copy a CD onto my computer once, and then be able to put the music onto my Ipod, or convert to mp3's for use on the phone. Can someone please tell me how to easily manage this?

Thank you.

When you rip a CD (copy it) into iTunes, you can choose the file format. Chose edit/preferences/advanced/importing, then click the drop down box under "Import Using" and choose "mp3 Encoding." I THINK it will save your music as an mp3 instead of the Apple-preferred AAC format. If this works, then you can drag it from your "My Music" folder to your mini SD card. By the way, I have not found a way to convert songs you buy on iTunes (which are only available in the AAC format) to mp3. If you have songs you've ripped from CD's in your music library now, they're prob in AAC format, however you can convert them to mp3 (it saves the AAC file and creates a new mp3 file right below it) by right clicking on the song in the iTunes Music Library and...

Sorry, I guess my post gave the indication I know more than I do. I haven't actually been converting videos, just downloading and using those converted by others. There was quite a selection on here, until someone informed the monitors and they were removed. You can search some of the past posts for info on converters, or go to howardforums and ask there. The real experts have all, I believe, moved over there.
