I have looked around a lot on this forum but I haven't had these specific questions answered. Tomorrow morning when my NE2 is up, I'm going to get the 8100. While I am out, I would like to get all of the necessary pieces to be able to download mp3's from my computer and have memory to store them along with video clips.

can someone that knows please list all of the components I need to buy extra and maybe where and a rough guess on the price? this would be greatly appreciated!

You will need a miniSD card, which is various prices depending on which size you get. You will also need a card reader.

So I would need the mini sd card? My g/f bought an Audiovox 8940 and it came with a card....

Also, is the card reader for my computer or the phone?

Do I need some sort of adapter to transfer songs from my computer to my phone?

Let me know....and where is this stuff at so I can buy it? Rough estimate on the price....

I bought my Sandisk MiniSD 1gb card for $100. You can find them MUCH cheaper online. Do a google search and it will lead you there. As for the card reader it connects to your pc via the USB port. My card reade is a SanDisk 5 in 1 reader that cost me $20 from Circuit City. Again that can also be bought online for a lot less money.

You format the card in the phone then place it in the card reader. A screen will appear that has 4 folders in it...MY SOUNDS...MY MP3s...MY PIX...and MY FLIX. You will open the mp3 folder. You wil then drag the mp3s from the pc to that "MY MP3" folder. Return the card to the phone and you are done.

So that is all I need? I need to get a SanDisk1GB miniSD card with a SanDisk 5 in 1 Card Reader?
How do I format the card within my phone?
I take the miniSD card and put it in the card reader...then hook it up to my computer and drag the songs from my computer into the mp3 folder? That's all I need to download mp3's onto my 8100?

Thanks a lot for the help so far....

The card will come with an adapter to fit the 5 in 1 reader. Just the card alone goes into the phone. The first time you put the blank card into the phone, it will automatically be formatted. Hope this helps. It is really pretty easy.

Yeah, it's really pretty easy. I got the 1gb for about $75 online, which will be $55 after the rebate. I bought a Sandisk 12-in-1 reader at Walmart for $27, and you don't need the adapter that comes with the card. It's a little nicer being able to read a lot more different cards. I would also recommend buying the office kit from Verizon for $40 to do your own ringers. I love it. It's actually for the LG 6100 and 7000 I think, and they'll tell you it won't work, but trust me, it does. The software that comes with the office kit is no good, but all you need is the cable. Then you download some software from the net and you're good to go. You can take any wav file and make it a ringer. VERY EASY. It is also a great program for your contact list...
