The best all around laptop is the Sony Vaio and it costs a pretty penny.
However, it really depends what you wish to do with it. Gaming, Administrative tasks, or Networking. Dell has pretty dependable laptops so long as you have extra ram added at least a 1 Gig minimum it should suit your needs.

I have the Dell Inspiron 6000. A 15.4in with bluetooth, 1gb Ram, Pentium M 2.0, etc... Its a good computer, and I've had no problems.
