MP3 and Bluetooth

I just purchased a stereo bluetooth headphone set which works fine with all the features of the phone so far, except for the music.

I don't have V4.0 of the software, nor do I have an SD card. I'm testing this out using the "My Sounds" section of the phone, assuming the bluetooth functionality would be the same.

If I get the phone upgraded to V4.0 and throw some MP3s on an SD card, will they play via bluetooth to the headphones?

The headphones support the Hands Free, Earpiece, and A2DP bluetooth profiles.

You say you bought a stereo BT headset, but by the profiles you listed it sounds as if you just got a regular BT headset. Does the headset specifically say "stereo" and have 2 earphones, or is it just the regular one ear headset? I ask because regular BT headsets are for audio only and you will not hear the music through these. You need to get a wired stereo headset or there are stereo BT headsets available that will have 2 earphones and they are a little pricey and big.

Until you get V04 and an SD card, though, you will not be able to listen to MP3's at all, at least not in the correct format and, of course, not using the MP3 player.

Yes, they are stereo headphones with 2 earphones. They were pricey at $150, but if I can listen to MP3s wirelessly with them, it will be well worth it.

Does the phone even attempt to transmit the MP3 data via bluetooth? In other words, will this ever work regardless of the sophistication of the wireless headset?

Those should work just fine. You won't be able to try them out, though, until you go get the update (take it to any Verizon store and it should take less than 1/2 hr. to do) and you get an SD card and reader to put the MP3's on.

Okay, so you're saying that my assumption that playing the "My Sounds" would behave the same as playing MP3s is incorrect. Hopefully you're right.

Perhaps the software update will allow me to listen to both MP3s and the "My Sounds" via bluetooth.

I'll post what happens when I find out.

Thanks.
