I think I have tried everything on this site to get my 8100 to tether to my pc, I keep getting and invalid user name and password message. I'm using [email protected] and vzw as the login. I'm running version 4 software any ideas please?

yes.
1st. you'll have to get the QPST configuration application to view the file structure your 8100.
The file your looking for is the NVM file. This is qualcomms' software for CDMA phones.

2nd. you'll need a HEX editor program "XVI32" to change the DUN connection built in the phone to vzw3g.com from [email protected]. after changing the name you'll have to make the value to 00, 00, 00, 00.

3rd. you'll need a Vcast package to connect to the internet with the info that you stated in your thread.
Howard forums has more on this.

secondly this will unlock your phone for bluetooth DUN as well.

hope this helps.

This can also get your service cancelled WITH the early termination fee. While it's only going to happen if you get caught, it's likely just a matter of time.

they are not going to catch nor are they going to be looking. the only way you will run into any issues is if you set up a server or something crazy where you would be using rediculous bandwidth, normal browsing and usage will not bring their wraith upon you. I have never heard of anyone ever getting booted for using their phone as a modem, from high end management, from custoemrs, from my own use , and not even as rumor or speculations in forums. Not even a friend of a friend who's cousin's boss's nephew had it happen, nothing. So don't worry about it. That clause is in their to cover verizon's but if they need to take legal action against someone who is abusing their data network.
