Software Update!

ultima

Let it be known I don't have any official info 😉

Maybe the MOD (Music on Demand) service will launch soon. I was thinking sometime in the middle of January, the 16th perhaps might be nice.

MOD is "rumored" to require v06 software to be used. So I think we will see the v06 software roll out nationwide really soon.

Just a hunch, being that the rebate cycle ends (and the new one starts) on the 16th, along with new promotions. It just makes sense.

Any agent with infocenter access may be able to confirm my hunches.

Ver. 06 ha been recalled by LG.
Do a search at HoFo.

Reason: Version 06 won't see your MP3 tunes.

I've read these reports. I've also personally seen a v06 that does play mp3's.

Maybe they were different revisions of the software.

Great hunch-thanks! Did the version you saw allow use of the front buttons? Can you use the front buttons to access mp3's without going to Get Tunes and Tones (as you can with v. 4)? Sorry, I know this is more than one question, but most importantly, does the new version address the fluctuating volume issue?

Hey guys, I hate to break it to you but Verizon is once again screwing us. The new software version for this phone will include the music on demand service which will REPLACE the mp3 player. Meaning that in order to play mp3s you have to pay for them and download them from verizon. you will not be able to load your own onto the sd card and play them.

Now where did you get this info?

I haven't seen anything like this (but I don't have 10 hours to sift through every page on HoFo either).

Besides its a currently advertised and well known feature. You think the legal dept would give the OK on this? If this really happens then MORTFE might actually have a real complaint big enough for a class action suit...

actually thats incorrect, you will be able to play music you currently have, but for using MOD service you will have to have windows media player 10 which will convert yr current mp3s into a wma copy to place on the phone/sd card. all music u download and pay for always comes in wma format because of the DRM, which does suck that you will have to take an extra step but if you don't wish to use the MOD services you don't have to get the software upgrade and you can keep it the way you have it.

Yeah, but does the software update do anything else? Everyone wants the current version, of course.

The front buttons did not work. Not sure about the volume issue, only seen it on that phone and that one phone has not had that issue according to the owner.
